Probably not, but it might last that long as a stage 1 or stage 2.

Yes, you will replace certain wear items, but it will last you if you are willing to keep a piece of equipment that long.

There are still some 06 models, and older, being run. All about maintenance.

Hours are much more important than years. If you only put 7 hours on it a year, and take good care of it, it will likely still be in very good shape 10 years down the road. If you put 2k on it a year, it will likely have been dead for a while in 10 years.

They will last a long time with proper care and maintence though.

Post Re: Lifespan of 36PD
well, parts of mine are still pre-2004, but not many. lol
on the fourth ot fifth engine since i got it, i ruined a couple with mods. changed out
several lower units and clutches. i think the throttle handle and box is still origional.

now, i don't baby it like most of the tards on here, the second brigs is still holding up pretty good with 1800 hrs on it. i had to change the heads earlier this year, they had both cracked.

as with anything, if u maintain it it will last. when u beat it on logs and wash marsh all day u will eventually replace things.
i'd like to upgrade now, just don't want to pay the money for a new one, would rather have a 90 or 115 outboard/jackplate for the same price.

if i were looking for a mudmotor, i would take my time and buy a used one with low hours.

as far as brand, get whatever u like, what works for me might not work for you. if you don't demo them all you can't make a informed decision. lol

Its refreshing to see an informative post from an old hand. Kinda cancels out a few of the posts here from the brain dead.

Mine is an '06 stock with 72 hours--all hunting hours and it's in mint condition with original everything except plugs, oil, filters, and lower unit lube which are changed as recommended. I run a outboard to fish in the summer. I plan on this PD 36 motor lasting me 20 years at least hopefully longer.

My ride is primarily a hunting rig. We go to the lake in it but only run about a mile to our spot and we swim and drink beer. No good riding up this way really. Its all clear deep water lakes, a low river that likes to eat props, or go to the hunting water and get the shit beat out of ya by stumps. I get plenty of time with the stumps during hunting season. I have no desire to run that mess for fun.

My MM rig does a lot of sitting between Feb-Oct.

75-100 hours a year at the most.
