 Big bear 350 or 400 4x4
Anyone run one?. Been looking for a cheap one for deer season. Anything I should look at when I go to check them out? Is the 350 with high and low range any better or should I just look for a 400? Looking to put at least 26s on it. Either vampires or outlaws

I have the 400, but think they both have the same 386 cc engine...

I got a 03 400 with lift and 27" gators some bitch will go anywhere. has plenty of power yet. only bad thing is when i ride from farm to farm down the gravel road u hit 25 to 30 mph you better be hanging on the 1.5" lugs make her shake a bit at high speed.

 Re: Big bear 350 or 400 4x4
The original BB 350 was a hoss - big ol chunky engine that was like a timex watch, took a beating but kept on ticking... Then somewhere in the '90's they introduced the "new" BB 350 with a new engine design that incorporated a smaller tranny system - they were semi-prone to breaking the engine case half where the idler gear for the starter system sat, resulting in either replacing engine case 1/2 or rope starting only, AND the rear axle got reduced in size to where the splines on the axle would wear down, leaving you limping home in front wheel drive ($600 for the part)... Along about 2000 the BB 400 was introduced, same basic engine as the later BB 350, slightly larger bore, but the starter idler gear seemed to have been fixed - although different drive train than the BB 350, the rear axle wearing situation stayed the same (now only $400 for the part)
I'm not knocking the BB, overall they're a great ATV, but there are some hiccup's that they had that you should be aware of.
Also, I would add, you are much better off without such aggressive, staggered tire tread, you will see much longer life of the tires, plus you won't see as extensive repairs on the ATV's drive train if you choose a tread pattern that doesn't "rattle the fillings out of your teeth" ...

Heh yeah I don't mind the tires. I've had vampires before so I know how they ride. Never had the outlaws though. Just want the bike to get me into the swamp where I deer hunt and back. Im leaning towards the 400 if I can find one for a decent price.
