 Re: 44+ mud motor????
To answer your question, there have been a few people to do 40+ in these mud motors. I think Hoyts ran 45 and some change, Gator Guys was low to mid 40s, Craigs old boat ran 41 with a prop change, Rail and RC prodrives ran 40, Drakes modded 31 on a 18x54 ran 40+ with some prop work. They had a couple more that did it with these MMs

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
So anyone have a guess as to how much the cost estimate would be to upgrade a motor to get more speed like Cody has for a 35HP?

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
It would cost a lot to get that speed. The way Cody told me was that motor pretty much had to be torn down and checked after each time it was run. Kinda like a race car, it's fast but it's not an everyday driver. To me that isn't practical if u hunt with it. But the man did great work, he did my heads, carb and exhaust. Woke up this ol prodrive and I don't regret it at all!

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
Here's a little clip of mine taking off. When I let off the gas I was on the 4700 rev limiter and . Keep in mind, mine is a CDI and don't do shit until it gets around 2200 rpm, then you best be bracing yourself. If you took my mods and put them on a horizontal, non cdi rig, easy high 30's and a much stronger hole shot...

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
Sorry, Didn't mean you said it failed, only confirmed the fact, he'll tear everything down to inspect even if it's running right. Preliminary inspections of what to do and what not to do and learns from details most people wouldn't ever notice even if you pointed at it. Would you measure the lengths of parts to the thousandths, go run it with no limiter as high as it will turn, come back, take it apart and measure them again just to see? All my motor is stock other than the heads and cam, stock rockers, rods, pistons, etc... Stock PD prop and it wants to go faster but limited with the 4700 cdi coils. It will last due to no high rpms to start stretching things.

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
Yea we have the same setup, except my rpms only go that high with a worn out prop. With a new one I run 4400ish at 29mph. Fixin to put a cam in it and see what it does afterwards. Not a Cody cam but we'll see what happens with it.

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
Have to agree with everyone about Cody. Great doing business with and any time I had a question, he answered with no prob. I'm running his cam, his heads and my exhaust with a jetted modified carb and can carry 4 people at 31 on a 1748. I did that run with 4 to load up engine because tach was broke and gov wasn't set (non cdi). Now that I have my new tach and can set my gov, I'm sure that I'll be all over the gov set at 4700 by myself. And this is with the stock carb, stock air box and stock air filter. I'm probably leaving some top end on the table by running stock carb, but that problem is being worked on as we speak.

 Re: 44+ mud motor????
I know you boys only care about those bigs blocks, but Midwest Super Cub builds the 25 Kohler to 100+ hp (dyno tuned) turning up 13,000 to 13,500 rpm. Get your wallet out... Price: $8,400!! And that's with a good core lol.
