Motors that run 40+ won't last.

man that is cool, wish I had my grandpa old 64 Chevy truck. dad's got a 50 Ford that hopefully he will give to me. it will stay in the collection

You can run high 30's safely

^^^ Sorry but this is false. The RPMs it takes to run high 30 is around 5000 and a little higher, Try to run that with one of the motors for 15 minutes straight and see what happens. Yes you can build a motor to be able to run the high 30 safely, but in reality you can only run it around 4300 to 4500 all day long and it last, so you are only running low to mid 30s

So a motor wont last turning 4650?

Do you turn 4650 for a 30 minute boat ride the whole trip or do you come back down to about 4400-4500?

so what if you got a stage 1 or 2 motor turning up 45-4650... thats hurting the motor?

Will, you said that your motor without the limitations of high rev coild would be a 37 MPH motor right? So you are already turning 4700 to run 34-35, you take out the limiting factor of the high rev coils to get to 37 you would be turning close to 5000 are better. Would you run your motor at these RPMS all day and every day?

2 reasons they increased the Rev coils on these motors. One as much as I hate to say this but Mudbuddy is a big factor that high rev coils came out in the first place, due to there higher performing motors they sell. The other reason is they changed the connecting rods to a different style to handle the higher RPMs

This whole thread is about 40+ mph boats. Not high or mid 30's. every 40 mph motor mentioned that was used for what they are intended to hunt and fish are all in parts and pieces

Build a horizontal something where you can play with the pulleys to change the gear ration, on a light boat, with an aggressive high speed prop and you can run 37+ all day under 4700 rpm for 500 hours if you want.

I might have phrased my answer wrong. Opinions are like assholes and this is my opinion . I still would not run these motors long periods of time at 4700. The blocks didn't change, the case bolt pattern didn't change, the case sealing on these motors didn't change. The only thing that changed were the coils and the connectiong rods. I have seen many of these block split from being ran at or above 4700 due to the block design. So that is my answer.
