I now realize most motors and boats are the tall transom. For my current hull I bought the short transom gtr35 love the motor pushs my boat well 28mph I have hit a couple times... My question is this next spring when I will be ordering a new custom build.. Do these custom guys build short transom hunt deck boats. Will be wanting a 17x52 with 21in sides tapered chine and hunt deck so 18'6" length. DO THEY BUILD THESE? preferably sportsman fab

It's a custom builder. They'll build basically whatever you want unless they know something won't perform to standard. I see no problem in a short trans hunt deck mainly because Gator-Tail, Gator-Trax, etc send them daily.

It's custom boat builder I'm sure they will build what ever you want

I understand they will build it. Jw if it would work or if anyone out there is running a short Tran hunt deck

Theres a short trans Gator-Tail combo for sale right now on this email forum and it has a hunt deck.

I know my current boat will probably not hold up to we'll, a day it slides like crazy I guess it's what you call square chine. Good boat but not mud motor material for the stuff I put it through

Most gator trax hunt decks are short transom.

I like a short transom on huntdeck bc it keeps a little lower profile.

The only disadvantage I have heard of was some people were saying the tall transom gtr has a steeper angle & allows for more reach. I have no idea why this would be the case but I've read that here.

When you trim all the way down, the propeller will reach out and down deeper in the water Is what the reach is. More of a "bite"

Here's mine short transom gtr... all the custom guys will do it.. wanna say mine 18"s n its plenty of room for my dog and he's a big boy 19 or 20 like Gator trax is nice also

i believe the bigger reason for a tall transom is to help stop splashback over the transom.. the huntdeck prevents this issue in every boat ive been in with one. ive got a short MB on a GTrax HD and even letting out from wide open never had water over the false transom.. now if you beach your boat on steep banks at high speeds it may take some water, but under normal use youll be ok

Yeah right now I can't even back half astern without filling the ass end of my boat with water
