Worked my A$$ off for two teal! lessons learned
North wind kicked up 15-20mph last night (not fun in a tent camping). Ran across a 1 1/2 mile mouth of a river in the dark with 2-4ft waves (kept going because I was too scared to try to turn around). I got soaking wet. Ran out in the marsh on a 2 1/2 ft low tide. North wind blow it out even more. 3 teal come by shot 2. I realized I should pick up and get out when my decoys start laying sideways and I see the weights. I pick up most of my decoys and try to get on step to come around and pick up the last two decoys to quickly realize the "mud flat" wasn't just mud. It was slightly muddy sand. I quickly said forget the last 2 deks and try to get the heck out before the last 2 inches of water blow out. After 45mins of working my GT back and forth inching forward. I got in enough water to get on step.
Lessons learned 1. Never cross that big of water with any wind greater than 10mph or even better never cross big water period in a mud boat. 2. Have a change of dry clothes with me. 3. Know my tide better in the area I hunt. 4. Have a least a set of hip boats with me in the boat because the marsh was hard enough to walk across with hip boots. I was standing on the flat with my knee boats. 5. Mud motor props don't like sand.
All I got to say is spending time with my dad I never see since I joined the army makes it worth it
Sorry long post but thought I would share.

Welcome to the mudmotor world and worn props.
We all get caught sooner or later when the water gets pushed out to much and eat a prop of 2 up a season.
Keep that worn prop in the boat and when you get caught change it right there to save the good prop.
Someone has a post on here changing a GT prop in a few seconds while engine is running. Might have been DDM.

Re: Worked my A$$ off for two teal! lessons learned
So since that prop is a 11x10. I wonder if I can pick up a spare from some of the guys running a 35 that has a worn down prop about those specs?

Might just be easier to run your worn prop till the end of teal season then replace it with a new prop. and ya, I know exactly what you mean about surgery and restrictions. Just got 3 steel plates and 17 screws in cheek about a month ago.

I'm going to order a new prop and run this one for a bit more then keep it as a back up.
