Post Potential state record gator
Saw this yesterday afternoon while scouting for teal. Called a guy who had an I filled tag and we went and got him. He broke one bow line and took 1.5 hours to come back up. Put another arrow in him and he also turned and bit the harpoon in half. Took everything the four of us had to get him in the boat. GA state record is 13-9. We measured him just over that but local news and DNR are meeting us at lunch and we will have official numbers then!

Ive had plans to hunt with this tag holder for a week. He called me at 6:45 last night to say I didn't need to bring my boat, and that we could ride with another guy who was already on his way to the lake. He had received a tip about a 12ft gator that wasn't being shy.

I told him to go ahead as I would be 10 minutes behind them and didn't want to hold them up.

Good news is I got the grass cut at home. ;(

Your guess was way closer than mine. He weighed 620. When we rolled him over his belly caved in like his stomach was completely empty. Might be why he was swimming towards the boat in daylight- hungry. My guess is that one meal could swing his weight up 100lbs but he wasn't given that chance!

I don't because I wasn't the tag holder, so his name will go on everything. I'm not sure if he gets anything or not though. Ill find out, but it's probably just news coverage. I know bass pro wants the gator to get a full mount in a store.

If you wanna have an awesome time and maybe stay in a room where children were conceived on one side and someone got stabbed over an 8-ball on the other come on down I got a can of raid. :D
