Working on it one shot at a time. But this one took five shots. I seen it in the field and didn't have a gun so I went and woke up my buddy at his house. He grabbed his coat, ar and headed out the door. Shot 5 times and final hit him on the 5th shot in the head. The awkward part was my buddy was still in his boxers.

In Ohio we are having an influx of them. They are escaping from the penned in hunt clubs. How devastating would that be to us up here? My thinking is that they taste better to me than deer so should I be exited about this or concerned. What harm are they?

The outfitters up here have an average 20 acres. They release 3 varieties of pigs which I am sure you guys catch down there. The land is fenced in so I don't even consider it a hunt. The hunts start at $400 and go up to $1000 depending on what kind of hog you want. Every club has %100 success rate due to the fact that you are shooting hogs in a barrel. I wonder what the guys get paid for the caught hogs

The guy I hunt wit sells his to a high fence that has trophy pig hunts. He gets any where from $75-$200 maybe $250 per pig depending on how big and what size cutters it has.

Man, those things are horrible to the farmer...
I lose about 1/3 of my hay crop to them each year - they root up so much in even just 1 night, plus my garden plot gets raped every now and then.
I used to trap them and keep them to sell to the guys that buy wild hogs, but now-a-days what I trap, I just shoot and drag off for the coyotes - occasionally I will keep a nice sow to get some meat off of...

A quick story... Back when I sold the hogs I trapped, there was a local high-fence that would buy anything over 250 lbs - I caught 1 that went a little over 400 lbs and called them up. They told me, sure, bring it right over. When I got there, the owner and another guy with a bow came out to meet me, the guy with the bow climbed up the side of my trailer and shot the hog with the bow. Then they drug it out of the trailer and took all kinds of pics with this dude and his bow over that hog, like he had shot it in the wild... I got my $200 and left, totally disgusted. No telling what that guy paid to shoot that hog...

We've hunted a place so hard that they left the club. But sometime next year they will be back. They move around all year depending on the places they can get food. So different areas will have hogs really bad at a certain time of the year.
