what hp mud motor for a 1448 polar kraft mv
Im looking in to a mud motor for my 1448 mv polar kraft. I want to be able to reach between 20-25 mph. What would be the best surface drive or LT?

18hp Copperhead would be perfect since its relatively light... but you are using a mod-v so know one knows how well it will work

I've got the same hull (except a 1442). I was just about to order a 23 hp backh2o longtail until common sense took over and told me not to spend the money with only a month left of the season. But i will probably be putting one on for next year. If you end up with a copperhead I'd like to know the performance since it is a fairly unique hull shape. It is mostly flat bottom except for the mod v which is only in the rake.

I was also thinking about the backwater but just don't know what hp to get. I've bein doing a lot of research and found that the backh2o will push faster than almost all other LTs, and with a lot less maintenance. But I would also like the surface drive because of the speed but I don't want to order one and find that it wont perform how id like it to.

What about any LT ideas, or will the surface drive perform better?

Depends on your conditions. I like longtails for a majority if what i do, although I've only ran a few surface drives. The longer runs I've got are manageable with the longtail, but it shines when you get on windy tight trails and you need the reach.
