Post my brother
We all know how brothers can a pain in the butt but we love them no matter what. Our gun season for deer came in saturday here in Indiana. So on thursday my brother asked me if I was fired up for saturday. I said yes and no. I have a bunch of nets out but I'm still gonna hunt for a couple hours before I head to the river. I asked him if he was fired up and he said 'oh yeah'. I asked him where he was gonna hunt? He replied 'where ever you put me'. He then tells me that he has been seeing a 160 class ten pointer on my lease.
Now my brother works just south of my lease and drives by there everyday going and coming from work. Friday he tells me that he seen a big ten chasing does and a couple of other nice bucks on his way to work that morning.
Saturday opening day he shows up at my house at 5am and asked me if I had any deer slugs. I laughed and he said I'm not joking I only have a couple :o So I lit into him about how he lives four miles from walmart and half way to walmart he drives by a large sporting goods store. He then said I wish I would not have said anything. I hunt with a inline muzzle loader and have not shot a deer in Indiana with a slug gun for nearly 20 years. I had a couple of winchester supreme sabot rounds in my police car trunk for shooting wounded deer on the job. I hand him two slugs and said make them count. My brothers nickname is 'three shot Scott'.
So we take off to the lease and as we drive through it my brother said drop me off here. This is where I have been seeing the ten pointer.
So I drop him off because I would rather see him get a big buck than me. I drive about three quarters of a mile away and hunt my favorite location.
By 10am I have seen several small bucks and a couple does. Knowing I got about three hours of net running to do I shut down the hunt and go to my brothers location. As I near I call him on the radio and he said in a quite voice that he was sneaking up on a big buck. I ask him where and he tells me the location so I head to the down end of the thicket. After about a half hour I see a heavy eight come through but nothing else. I walk back to the truck and call my brother on the radio and tell him we need to get moving. He said 'get the four wheeler and come haul my deer out'. I said I did not hear a shot. He said I shot a eight pointer this morning and thought I missed. When I was walking back to meet you I found it. So I get the four wheeler and go to his orange hat that I can see out in the field. He tells me that after 6am this eight pointer walks right up to his Tinks rag and starts licking it. He had bought six or seven bottles and had them all used up on drag rags and limb hangers. His stand location looked like the debris from a tornado with all those white rags hanging around. My brother said the eight pointer was about twenty yards away when he shot. He said the deer crumbled and plowed his way away through a thicket. My brother said he thought he made a good shot so he packed in a dip and waited for ten minutes. After five minutes he looks and sees the big ten licking one of the Tinks rags. My brother said the buck was about nine yards away and licked the towel dry. The big buck moves on. Scott gets down and goes looing for the buck he had shot. No blood. He walks around for about a hour and can't find the deer or any blood. So he sums up that maybe he missed. He goes back to his stand and a couple hours later he sees another big buck with his nose to the ground. Scott gets down from his stand and goes on the stalk and stumbles across his buck. He shot the buck with the round I gave him. :? I asked him if he was going on Sunday to shoot some does and he replied 'nope' I gonna hang up the gun. Boy is he a mess.
Its a nice eight and I will post a pic asap.
Randy

Post Re: my brother
Younger brother too I bet. Mine did the same thing to me for years. My dad, brother and I had a yearly fishing tournament just between the three of us. First year we did it, my brother borrowed my equipment because he didnt have his own. We would bet $1 on the first fish, $1 on the biggest and another $1 on the most. That turd beat me that first year, using MY stuff!! Next year comes around and he asks if I am going to let him use my stuff again. NOT!!!!!! So he buys this POS rod and reel combo. We get to the lake and put the boat in the water, I am already fishing, so is my dad, my brother is getting his rod and reel put together. The whole time he is talking like Roland Martin and bumpin his gums about how he is going to take our money again. So, I am fishing in the back of the boat, dad in the front, brother has the middle. I am throwing a crankbait, when I hear my brother say " Get your money out boys, here I go". Then I heard the loudest commotion, banging and bumping in the boat. I turn around and his reel had fallen off the rod and was laying in the bottom of the boat. He says he was just practicing and puts the reel back on. I go back to fishing when I hear hiim cast, followed by a "Slpoosh". I turn around and look and he is staring over the side of the boat, his reel had fallen off again and this time was at the bottom of the lake. I fell off my seat I was laughing so hard.
