 Opening Day Results
I was very disappointed by this morning's hunt. Only killed 2 woodies, which were the only birds we shot at. Only saw a total of about 20 ducks. This was in SE LA public land. How did the rest of you coastal zone guys do?

 Re: Opening Day Results
Sucked here. Shot at 2 birds and that was it. Probably should have shot at them they were at a marginal distance. Didn't see much close in. We did see about 150 high flying ducks that were headed south. Not many at the ramp were limited out either. Only a few.

 Re: Opening Day Results
Wildlife and Fisheries were at the launch and said that there were 25 birds taken out of 46 hunters. And that was at about 10:30.

 Re: Opening Day Results
I was sitting in my blind thinking of ya'll this morning, hoping ya'll had more birds there than what we have. I would have surely thought after our take on this past Thursday morning after the cold front came through that there would be more birds than what showed up here today. 1st shot on our local puddle didn't happen until 20 minutes after shooting light, and it came from my boat for a lonely Woodie drake - it was a good 20 minutes after that before another shot rang out from across the lake, story of the whole morning... For 3 guns, and 4 hours, we came home with a Woodie and a Mallard pair.
It's a bummer to start season off like that - I feel your pain, but I hope things pick up for ya'll in the real near future...

 Re: Opening Day Results
This opener was the most hunters I've ever seen at the launch I use. There were boats with music blasting and with neon lights glowing. It was like they were tailgating for a big game at 4:30 in the morning.

 Re: Opening Day Results
Didn't pull the trigger this morning. Did have Mr. & Mrs. H. Wood drop into the deeks right off the bat. They got up and flew off with some nearby shots. They flew right by the group of DC's with the calls stuck in their throats. They emptied their guns and the birds kept flying.
I heard a lot of shooting. But, I really think it was a lot of people with a little shooting. I have no idea what was the intended targets of most of the nearby shooting I heard. I did see some commarants and bec croise dodging steel shot this morning, though.
The cast portion of my blast and cast was much better than the blast! LOL

I Shot almost a box of shells to kill six teal....sad. I was emabrassed in front of my kids...they were on fire, and My lil boys friend that came along...I don't think he missed. They all had a blast.
I think I bought a bad case of shells...no pellets in them.
I'm gonna show em in the morn...kicks modified.

 Re: Opening Day Results
5 man blind @ the Main Delta. Got our birds, only because of good shooting. Singles and doubles. It was terrible. 2nd worst opener I've seen in 16 years.
Might go hunting tomorrow. Might go run a few of my traps and boil crabs and drink beer. It's a toss up right now.

 Re: Opening Day Results
Sunday morning blast and cast was much better than Saturday. I got a pair of fives. Not counting the four shots wasted on a cripple, pulled the trigger five times and put five birds down. Then, put 5 reds in the boat. All grays and one mottled or black duck...depends on who you ask.
