 Bow advice
I will be in the market for a used bow for next year. I'm looking for a used rigged out bow ready to hunt. I used to own a HOYT years ago and that would be my preference but will consider other high quality brands. I started doing some research and man there is a lot to choose from. I'm looking to spend about 700$ but may go up to 1000$.
BTW I've been checking the classifieds and don't know where to start.
Let me know what you shoot.

 Re: Bow advice
There really isn't a company that makes a bad bow anymore. Best way to decide is to go out and shoot the ones that interest you and pick the one that feels the best. I shoot a bear truth II right now and am happy with it. I have not upgraded in a few years though because i am not into archery the way i used to be.

 Re: Bow advice
I have a bowtech destroyer 350 right now and its FAST! Having said that, I shot mathews before that. The switchback and drenalin I had were so much easier to shoot. More forgiving and smoother draw for sure. I'm happy with the bowtech but when I change up, I will def. Consider another mathews.

 Re: Bow advice
I shoot an elite judge, 29.5 draw ,74lbs, shoots 320fps with Easton fmj arrows, 340 with gold top velocities, 370 something with highcountry arrows. it's a great bow. dead to the hand, shoots stupid flat. it will be for sale next year. there is really good bows out there for sure, shoot all them and you'll fall in love with something.

 Re: Bow advice
Had a bowtech admiral and loved it, just recently traded for a bowtech insanity. I like it but I don't think it's as smooth as my admiral was, but this one is about 50 fps faster too.

 Re: Bow advice
Best thing to do is go try some out and see what fits you best. With a budget of $1000 you can get a nice new bow rigged out for that much. I picked up my elite new as a left over from the previous year for $550.

 Re: Bow advice
Hoyt, Bowtech/Diamond are the cream of the crop right now (competition and hunting) I put Matthews in the same category as Mud Buddy They sell bows by pouring LOTS of money in advertising and letting any corner store sell their product. Best bet is go to place that sells and they'll let you shoot them, try out a couple different models. Remember short brace heights, short axle to axle lengths and how parallel the limbs are to each other makes them harder to shoot and less forgiving but faster. If a certain bow shoots 30fps faster but you got to have the perfect form to shoot it accurately is not ideal for hunting, you'd be better off with a more forgiving slower bow in the stand.

 Bow advice
Mathews. Your budget will get you a nice used bow. Keep your eye on the Louisiana Sportsman or the Matthews forum. Go to a pro shop and shoot them all. I bet you will see how nice a Mathews can be. There are plenty of guys that buy a new bow every year and sell their old one. I shoot a Z7Extreme at 310 fps and love it.

 Re: Bow advice
Head on over to archery talk and look in the classifieds. You will get a great deal there on what's likely brand new bow. Take a hard look at elite bows. They are putting out IMO the best bows on the market and they come with a transferable warranty. I was going to get an answer but found a great deal on a Ben Pearson stealth II that I couldn't pass up. $1200.00 + rig for $500. That's the kind of deals you get on AT.

 Re: Bow advice
I've been looking and seen a bunch of deals. I'm going to try to shoot some in the near future and make a decision affter the season. They should have an even bigger selection by then.

 Re: Bow advice
08 bowtech guardian. Not the fastest one on the market but extremely smooth shooting and extremely quiet. its a tad bit on the heavier side but I dont mind that. I dont like shooting bows that are really lite. you should not have a problem at all finding one for around your price range. Go to a dealer and shoot them all! speed isnt everything !
