hey, last day of season after the hunt, went to crank her up and got nuthin at first. then just a scratchy sound then a half ass click. pull the clutch in and out then it finally clicks. after that it didnt do a thing. is there a relay gone out in front of the air cleaner? i pushed it all the way to the ramp after that.

could his clutch not be disengaged? if his batery is dead would the clutch stay in its last position or would it automatically go into neutral?

if um lose ur 12volts, clutch no worky.

sounds like a bad connection......
check ur battery + and -- conn.
check ground cable under motor where cable grounds to frame.
check wires on started.

i bet it's one of these. good luck.

Could also be the starter. Mine went out 2 days before season ended here. All you get was click - click. Put a new starter in with a new battery and she was back in business.

no power=clutch disengages (electro-magnet).

after further inspection, there is a red wire comming off the black plug under the starter. it has some green fuzzzy crap on it, and the others as well. guess its all corroded up. i touched it and it fell off. has PD come up with a waterproof connector yet? I guess i gotta replace all the wiring on this damn thing.

I've got an older PD 25 and have had several wires corrode and break - usually an easy fix, but still an annoyance. Are the new PDs any better? Are they using SS bolts? Seems like it is something pretty predictable on a air cooled engine with 2 blade prop.

PD can't fix Stupid boys..

I have a 2006 32 PD, and am having a similiar problem. It seems that the problem has been in either the starter or cylinoid. I have had to replace the cylinoid, and had both the starter and cylinoid rebuilt. Now it is starting to act up again. Sometimes when I turn the key it just clicks. I have replaced the battery cables, and replaced the end on the small wire that connects to the cylinoid. Any ideas on what else coule be wrong?

I have had a similar problem but only intermittently. I cleaned all connections and ran extra battery cables to the motor. I think it is a problem with the wire that connects the solenoid to the starter. This is an uninsulated, exposed wire. The first time I took it off it was all corroded. I have cleaned it a couple of times since then and constantly sprayed with Corrosion X. I can only slow down the corrosion, I won't be able to stop it with our hunmd/salty air. No matter what, it will eventually corrode through.

This wire goes directly into the side of the starter and as far as I know there is no way to fix it. Why they made it a bare wire, I don't know. Check this wire for corrosion. It is a little hard to see since it only goes between the starter and solenoid and it doesn't look like a regular electrical wire. Mine was red like copper but it was silver on my buddies motor.

Also check the connections on the back of the switch panel. I have had those vibrate loose before. Make sure you unhook your battery before you start looking as you could cause some damage to your motor (trust me). If your battery is good and all the connections are clean, it is probably your solenoid or starter. You can test you solenoid by jumping the two posts with a screwdriver but I think starter trouble is a process of elimination.

If you don't have a voltmeter, go buy one.
