 Re: catahoula lake
Most of Honey Brake is land that used to be part of Delta Plantation...ag fields, back water, and old sloughs and bayous. I've heard they also have binds on 'hula and other area lakes.

 Re: catahoula lake
Yeah, a bunch of the guides have blinds on the delta and on Catahoula. They set up multiple blinds on Catahoula and then come run you off if you try to hunt them even if they aren't using them. They will tell you they have someone coming when they don't and tell you to leave.
Dguidry, I just dug through a foot tall stack of newspapers but failed to find that article for you. All I remember about it was that both the 3 thieves who were killed and the guy facing murder charges for killing them were all basically kids.
Don't get me wrong, I am not threatening anyone. Even though they destroyed a new blind I built in a place there was no blind in the last 8 years (there was one there prior to that), I am not going to shoot anyone over a duck. Opening day for Catahoula is in a few hours and I am not even going to hunt. Other people will not be as reasonable as me. Fistfights at the boat ramp are a regular occurrence at Catahoula. Some people will not react well to threats. Some people only need that one last straw to snap. This guy will get what's coming to him but it won't be from me.
Heck, earlier this season a couple people were checking out my spot at another place in the coastal zone, and I told them to come on and hunt with me. We ended up becoming friends and having a great time. This guy could have been the same. Me or the guys in the other blinds he destroyed would have been happy for him to hunt with us or hunt there any time. I usually cook eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes in the blind for everyone that comes, but this guy just got greedy and thinks he owns the lake.

Keep in mind that 99% of the time only a duck hunter has the necessary equipment to help someone that might be broke down.on an ice covered river in the dark.

 Re: catahoula lake
yea we hunted. killed 76 total out of one blind for the weekend.
ended up with 149 for opening weekend at the camp
Oh yea on the honey brake deal. One of the guides Blake Seioleau had blinds on Catahoula he hunted every year before they started the honey brake lodge deal and he charges them to hunt his blinds when they guide out of them. I know all of em pretty well we lease some blinds on the delta from them and my camps right down the road from them.

 Re: catahoula lake
you guys complain about hunting pressure but it is really bad by me. opening day there was 49 groups of guys the warden said. that was in the one section of marsh that he was watching. that section is 1.5 miles x 1 mile. if you were up by me you would all have the shity attitude of aka. i used to chat with other hunters but it never worked out. They would think of the conversation as a weakness and get closer and closer to the spots i was setup at. The guys use a 60 yard rule up here. The only break i get is when i am hunting open water. you are right woodie.

 Re: catahoula lake
I personally didn't be my boat broke on me but a few buddies went down there and just set up some where. About 4 dozen decoys and a little brush and pulled 3 limits out.
