 Mikuni kit, buyer beware
Just a heads up for those of you ordering Mikuni kits right now. Make sure you know what size you are getting before finalizing your order (45mm vs 42mm). I recently got up with Rob (team camo) to do my heads and send me a cam and carb kit. Prior to sending him my heads we had one phone conversation where he said he would check on the availability of carb kits for me because kits were back ordered. There was no mention of the possibility of getting a 45 at this time because he wasnt sure he could get a kit at all. The rest of our convos were via text which I've included - no mention of carb being 45 there either. Maybe I'm naive but when the kit that everyone is running and is standard has a 42mm carb I expect to get a 42 mm carb unless otherwise specified. As you can see, the carb was sent to me from a guy in FL who had ordered a carb kit from rob and didn't want the 45. Rather than send it back to rob rob kist had him send it along to me. I cannot say as to whether or not he was informed, it's not my concern. When I got and measured it rob said he would take it back when I found a 42 elsewhere I could order. When he wrote me a refund check I was charge over 80$ restocking fee. I was fine paying the shipping back, that's whatever, but with a restocking fee I'm out over 100$ on a carb that I didn't order and that I didn't want to begin with. When I called rob he said that was his policy. He's now trying to tell me that he told me it was a 45 before sending it which is bullshit cause I never would have gone ahead with it knowing that. When we never had a phone conversation other than he would check on getting a kit period and the rest are text it's easy to tell. Now he's completely fabricating a phone conversation in which he told me it was a different size and whatnot. 80 bucks is 80 bucks but to completely lie to me about a conversation that never happened to justify charging me a bullshit restocking fee for a carb I didn't want and didn't order is insulting. His final word was "you ordered a carb kit and that's what you got". So this is just a buyer beware for anyone ordering a mikuni kit at the moment, you may not be getting what is standard and what is expected, and you may end up out over 100$ for something that you never even took out of the box.

We ran the HSR 45 carbs for a couple of years and they performed good.

He told me he charged the other guy the restocking fee. So he made another 80 bucks off that guy sending the carb to me. Didn't even "restock" it

Oh no, I agree with you, its not what you paid for or expected to recieve. I'm just letting you know that they still perform if its you last resort.

 Re: Mikuni kit, buyer beware
When calen was building ARguide's motor he called him and let him know that all he could get was the 45 in the kit. I've heard the boat dr say the same thing. ARguide called me and we discussed it and he felt the same way, he wanted a 42 soi put together a kit for him with a 42 and sent it to calen. I don't like the 45 ANSI agree you should've been told you were being sent a 45 and not a 42.

 Re: Mikuni kit, buyer beware
man i dont like bad mouthing people but i got rob to do stage two mods on my boat he put them in alright and cheaper then most. He never set the carb float right and it always had issues but at least it ran. Then I threw a rod he put a 31 vanguard rod in which sheerd the timing key since its slightly different measurements than the other. I asked him why it happened he said the key was old and it happens. I had it replaced and it sheered immedieatly. I took it to gator tail because he obviously doesn't know whats going on or else he doesn't want to admit he made a mistake I told the guy at gator tail the issues and he knew right away what was wrong.... Ended up I had to have my crank, flywheel, rod replaced, and carb float adjusted... $1018 bucks to fix from gator tail now my motor is running better than it ever has. I would stay away from him just the lesson I got from it. If he would of offered to fix his mistake I wouldn't be saying anything but he wasn't cheap either for not fixing the problem.

 Re: Mikuni kit, buyer beware
45 HSR would have worked great. I run the 45 Mikuni. SETX ported heads and intake, BPS rockers and BPS crossover exhaust. Gained 5 mph and 700 rpm over stock. 167.5 main jet seems to be the sweet spot on my combo.
I don't agree with the restocking fee. Shipping is one thing but that sounds shady.

Well, I certainly hope this will caution others from using his "services" It's quite a sweet racket though. Dude has made $170 clear by restocking that one carb

 Re: Mikuni kit, buyer beware
Rob has always been an upstanding member on here and has helped me a few times with my engine issues. I can't imagine that the issues presented here are nothing more than the result of unintentional miscommunication. I'm sure he will resolve this to everyone's satisfaction. He wouldn't rip off anyone, I'm certain of that.
