This is my first online duck bragging post, but this is a rare for my parts. This was the second one I've ever had a shot on. Been hoping to kill one for years. Had 5 come in and they wrapped around to 35 yards, but not quite close enough to shoot. Finally this one came back on a suicide mission:





Ended up slow, 5 blackbellies, ringer, and Pintail. Having to travel to kill numbers.

I remember my 1st "local" shot Pintail from not that many years ago - it was in a group of Mallards that I just had to shoot it down to see it "up close and personal", even happened to be banded at that... - they were "rare" around here, but now I seem to get more and more each year since.

Hopefully your flyway will increase in numbers too...

Surprised you don't see a lot of them. I had 2 females and a drake skirting me at 50 yards this morning. Then they seen me scrambling to find my whistle and they were gone. Good looking bird. Is he going on the wall?

Was my first true greenhead FL mallard. 2 weeks ago. Had a group of 8 come in, they were so slow it was easy pickins. Ever since the BP oil spill we've been killing a lot of rares.

Shot my first one this year too.

Congrats! I remember mine we use to get em over my way a lot haven't seen but a few this year only shot one so far but seems like we have more green heads this year so I'm not complaining

Yeah, killed it on a lake that we watch/fish all year long. those mallards aren't in there til after teal season every year.

I could be wrong. Not saying I'm right by any means, but every mallard we've killed this season so far is fully plummed and the last I checked, SC is north of Fla by the migration.

Good killing tho by all means.

I killed a mallard opening day over here and he didn't have any of his colors.

Nice bird. How many of ya'll remember when they were 10 point ducks? I remember going to the coast in the late 70's with my dad and the 5 of us would kill 50 pintails a day on a weekend. Different game today.

That mallard is pretty, but he's mixed bud. True mallards have a white ring on neck between green head and neck. I always forget how spoiled we are here when folks post pics like these.... Congrats on the birds

This is a regular occurrence for us in north westMississippi. Pretty much every hunt. Correction auto correct on my phone put east instead of west. It's actually more like north west/ central miss.
