Post gator glide and other brands
do you guys think it is worth putting this on a boat with ribs? I mean I understand on a slick bottom that it will slide all over the place, will it help a boat with ribs also slide over grass mud ect? Another question will gator glide slow you down? some people may not understand what I mean but take a bass boat for instance if you sand the pad on it it will be faster. you don't want a slick pad on a high performance boat. just questions I have before I invest. And what other options are there besides gator glide? thanks in advance.

I was hoping someone else would answer you but here we go. Yes it will help your boats performance greatly, it will help any boat. Do a search on Google " GatorGlide MMT" and you will find mile of information. There are several other slick bottom coatings out there, any of them would be beneficial to you. Also do a search "slick bottom" you should find most all that are worth anything.

I won't have another boat without it. Guys are spending thousands of dollars for performance gains and you can get a better running boat for ~$225 with Gatorglide. Plus, it's so easy to apply.

bump for this, thinking bout doing it to my lil 1442 riveted. Got stuck bigger than shit on a mud flat this weekend and it sure wouldve been nice to be able to glide a little easier lol!! Is it just as effective on mud as it is on hyacinth/lillies?

in the day we used slick bottom on glass airboat hulls. alum hulls got poly as did some glass hulls. we never used it on alum hulls. dont know why, just maybe figured it wouldnt stick to the alum. that being said how well does it stay stuck to alum with flexing and hard strikes ? i run rocks and gravel. the soft alum wears and gouges. small scratches all over look bad but its hard to tell just how much metal is gone. i have a feeling its getting thinner. the slick bottom we used was very hard. do yall think it would "hardin up" the bottom enough to keep the alum from gouging?

I am an air boater and a mudboater with a aluminum hull. All my prior air boats had poly and you are right the slick bottom coating back in the day would not stay on if you hit something. I'm also a painting contractor for over 35 years now. "GatorBase and GatorGlide sticks to aluminum better than zinc chromate" (the best etching primer for those who don't know). Check out the hammer test . Will it "hardin up" the bottom enough to keep the alum from gouging? No! nothing will make it any harder! Will it cause you to slide over stuff rather than gouging or at least gouging less? Yes! Aluminum is like having a break shoe on the bottom. When you hit something it grabs causing it to dig in. Try sliding a hammer across a new smooth piece of bare aluminum, you'll see what I mean. Slide anything across a hull with GG just don't have anybody on the other side, you'll knock them out! :)

The stuff works great. Put it on my buddys boat this summer we have been breaking ice with it for the last month ya can barely see any damage at all. My boat has Steel Flex on it and its starting to chip up pretty bad. I would never own a boat with out it now.
