some of you may be disapointed. the 380 has been offered for some time over seas. i beleave it will be the same one when its offered here.

this pistol is the same size as the 9mm. it is offered to law enforcment in other countries that carry 380 as their issue side arm. 380 has been a standard cal for euorpiean law enforcment for years. also known as 9mm short or 9mm kurtz.

this would not make very good sense as you could get a 9mm-45 in the same size pistol. only if recoil were an issue would i consider this pistol.

i do cc a 380, but only for size. i have an lcp. not my first choice of cal but only for the size. if you want a glock for size its not going to be there, just the cal.

A 380 is better then nothing but it is not something you should trust your life with. 9mm/38 should be minimum

It's not the same size. It's a single stack

Glock 42
Length: 5.94"
Height: 4.13"
Width: .836"
Weight: 13.4 oz.

Ruger LCP
Length: 5.16"
Height: 3.60"
Width: 0.82"
Weight: 9.4 oz.

Kahr P380
Length: 4.90"
Height: 3.90"
Slide Width: 0.75"
Weight: 9.97 oz.

Kahr PM9
Length: 5.42"
Height: 4.0"
Width: 0.90"
Weight: 14.0 oz.

S&W Shield
Length: 6.10"
Height: 4.60"
Width: 0.95"
Weight: 19.0 oz.

I love Glocks and that is what I trust my life with but this .380 is their attempt at grabbing a market share of the popular 380's out right now. It's not any smaller then the above competitors.

Post Re: glock .380
your right about 380, but the ammo has gotten much better. the other thing is that when confronted by the bad guy in a cc confrontation i feel like it is a rare occation that they will want to fight once they have a couple holes in them. meaning most of these confrontations are chosen by the bad guy as an easy opertunity.

as an leo i would need a sidearm that has a certain amount of stopping power. in a cc encounter the presence of a handgun has as much effect as the use. you poke a couple 22 holes in someone they will be looking for the exit not a continued fight. MOST OF THE TIME.

in law enforcment encounters the effect of a conforntation is to stop the threat. in a cc confrontation its to get your ass out of trouble. this may be to stop the threat or give you time to remove your self from the threat or even make the threat take him self away.

i know it may seem the same but there are differences in law enforcment and cc. i am oblegated to protect my self and others (general public) in an armed confrontation. as a cc you are protecting your self.

i may not be relaying what i want to say.

also ive not seen the exact glock that they say will be available in the US.

i beleave you are right. looking at what you posted the weight is the key. the glock is much heavier than even some of the 9's you posted. as i said above i beleave you can have a lager cal for the size and weight.

Wasn't it due to the import laws that they could offer it here without dropping another model??

had a glock rep tell me years ago that they didnt feel it was a good idea, as they could offer a larger cal in reasonablly the same size. this was when the sub compacts came out. at that time they were concidered tiny.

My grandmother always carried a 22 long darenger. She said if she ever had to use it she would poke them in the ribs and pull the trigger.... she was wise and recognized that most confrontations are gonna get up close real quick. Accuracy wasn't an issue, neither was killing power.... she said a rib cage shot was enough to make most anyone stop....or die

dimond back 380

ive seen them and thay have that glock look. grip looks a little funky. heard thay are not that reliable.

if your a glock fan and have to have that look, you are limited to the db. but i think there are much better guns out there.

by the way i am a fan of glock. carried one almost everyday since about 1993.

that said, and this is w/o anything to base it on, im not a big fan of the other glock type guns. speeking about the xd's, mp's and such. since the glock came about there have been many striker, polymer guns made. having such faith in glock it never made sence to get any other. they are good im sure but ive never seen or heard of a bad glock.

Post Re: glock .380
i understand and agree. i say carry a 50 cal if you can. my intention was ment that you should carry what you want to or will carry all the time. i would take a 22 over nothing any day. i would rather have a full size if i need it, but find myself not carring my lcp some time. i know i would rarely carry a full size if thats all i had. that being said i am comfortable with the 380.

yes glock fans will buy the 380 to add to the collection, but it would make more sense to carry a larger cal in the same size gun.

as a gun owner/user i find myself wanting many guns. but due to funds i rarely buy something that isnt practical for me. like an AR, i would love to have one but dont know when ide ever use it. i have a 223 bolt gun for does and coyotee and a mini 30 for brush hunting (and if the stuff hits the fan) . an AR could take there place but i already own them. same goes for hand guns. im not a collector so, even though i am a glock fan, i doubt ill buy the 380.

i own lots of pistols from 44mag., 45, 9mm, 32, 22. i am to damn lazy to fuxx with a big ass pistol with a holster. i carry a 22mag 5 shot the size of a pocket knife and feel 100% that no mofo will take a round in the face and still be a threat. when i travel with the family i also bring along a sawed of double barrel 12ga. sometimes i keep a glock 17 9mm in our vehicle when traveling but i would never carry a big ass gun like that

My 380 is my carry gun.....I didn't need a firetruck to put out the fire I used my little fire extinguisher on..... I would think a 380 would be sufficient for most confrontations where you might pull your sidearm....When I travel I carry my xd9. ....

It's comparable to 9mm's but not to the 380's people tote! I see not need in buying one if it is basically the same size as my g26

I've got one. It's 1/2" longer than say a ruger or the SW bodyguard. Very easy to conceal and shoots great
