Need a little help..My dog is 12 years old and starting to hurt in her back legs.She will play hard all day..But once she gets in her bed she has to drag herself out till her legs start working.What do you guys use??

My old dog was really hurtin last year after hunts. After getting home he would lay down and get stiff and then would have a hard time standing until he got moving again. I put him on previcox per my vets advice. Vet said it is a newer med and didn't have some of the side affects as seen in others. He was a new dog this season and I never noticed him get stoved up after any hunts like before. I was worried he had seen his last season last year but at this rate I'll get a couple more good years out of him. It was tough to leave him at home cause he would be there no matter how bad he hurt. Made a believer out of me.

My dog isnt as bad as described but can tell he sometimes strains to jump then after long day of huntin gets to him

Usually durin huntin season give him half pill before the hunt then after at feedin time give him a whole pill

Durin off season give one pill in evening at feeding time (I only feed once a day - evening time)

We have a heavy 7yr old with Thyroid problems and Arthritis- he gets one ascriptin( along with thyroid pill) in am and one at night-also on diet and he is again acting like him self-after we hunt him hard wife gives him one deramax(prescription) and he is ok next am.

I did the Rimadyl thing for a month or so with my 10 y/o choc male because he was so arthritic that he could not put weight on right rear leg. The rimadyl helped enough to get him back on all 4 legs but it is expensive so I stopped it and started using a daily pill for joint health that can be purchased at walmart for about $12 for 60 pills. I started giving 2 pills a day with his evening meal and continued that for about 3 months and now have been giving 1 daily for the last 2 years. He has never had one single limp since starting this supplement.

Well our seven yr old BLM is all of a sudden 11 nexy mos and today he will again hunt-it's our last day at game farm- he loves it- will bestiff tomorrow BUT his desire etc makes it worth the pain IMHO- for him and us- almost 3yr old will do a lot of work but old boy still finds and chaese down the birds- this may be his last hunt but he will still command the front deck of our fishing boat this summer.

Cope look into Adequan. Its a once a month injectable. Rimadyl and Deramax are out there as well as pain relievers and steroids.

Deramax can lead to kidney issues when combined with acsriptin or other drugs.
