 Re: Season ender
Guess im the odd man out No mallards. But I have beat the piss out of the gadwall population this yr. I just talked myself into going back in the morning for a bit before church tomorrow. Fingers crossed for the elusive mallard.

 Re: Season ender
I'm gunna give it hell one more time tomorrow, hunted nearly every day this season and had quite a few good hunts, didn't really kill a huge number of ducks because I rarely hunt with more than one other guy. We did shoot some quality limits and had a good time though!
Med, this year was opposite for us... We normally kill the shit outta Woodies and Gadwalls every year but this season we killed more Mallards than anything else! More than I have killed in the past several seasons combined. There were a couple days we left with 8 mallards because there were no off ducks to kill. Too many mallards is never a problem though!

 Re: Season ender
Yeah thats good problem to have Woodie. I hunted mainly private this year and we have woodies and gads running out the wazoo. Very few mallards on a regular basis tho. It dont bother me tho., ill shoot a gadwall in a minute.

 Re: Season ender
So that's where all our gadwall went. Had they done what they're usually doing I'd of had a jam up year. Congrats on all y'all ending up good. I didn't hunt once in the last 10 days. Wasn't worth the effort for a couple bluewings or a mottled.

 Re: Season ender
You ain't jokin! I missed 4 days of the first split to work and hunted all but 4-5 days scattered through the second split.
It gets tough to keep gettin up after a couple slow days but it was prolly the only opportunity I'll ever have to do it so I'm glad I did

 Re: Season ender
Id say ive hunted around 30. Maybe a few more. I have a good wrk schedule. I slept in this more. This last week was as good as I could've asked for so sleeping in wasnt a big deal for me.

 Re: Season ender
I only got to make about 25, I'm normally over 30...and this was by far the worst year I ever had. Had to miss the best days for some reason or other. Need to regroup for next year, gotta figure out a way to get the ducks to come south or I need to head north.

 Re: Season ender
Watched the sun go down on the end of the season. Had 3-400 mallards hit our hole. Nice end to the year.

 Re: Season ender
I have had an off yr for sure. Work, weather and the lack of birds all contributed but also had a few good hunts. We need off seasons every now and then to make us appreciate the good yrs. Almost slept in this am... Bailey girl would have been mad at me. 3 widgeon on a triple followed by 3 greys. Not a bad closer for S Central TX. Hope you find your dog poke chop.

 Re: Season ender
He came back this morning. I was sure someone stole him because he never leaves my yard but he came back.

 Re: Season ender
Be careful with that. Had a dog that always left for most the day but would come back like clock work. One time he decided to go north of i10 and didn't make it back south. All for some strange. Should of just snipped him.
