 ECO BOOST OWNERS
There is a plastic shroud attached behind the front bumper. It kinda funnels air into the inner cooler, but not really well. It will! Cause inner cooler failure. There are plastic channels that if you hit something or drag that plastic off road that will puncture the inner cooler. The cooler it self costs $281. Its easy to change, but if you remove that shroud you can avoid this costly repair all together. It is attached by two bolts. Just prevent this and remove the plastic.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
yea, BUT!!!! Ford is pretty sketchy on thier warranties. Take off that part, have some sort of problem/ failure and though it may be completely unrelated, they will deny coverage. happened to me.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
Don't own one but.... Ford went as far as moving the license plate to one side to get enough air to the cooler. I would be a little scared of changing anything with that system.

I don't have pictures, but for those that have the engine snag look at what I'm taking about will understand immediately and see how it can cause a failure.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
i am a ford technician if you are still under warranty i wouldn't recommend removing it if something were to happen to the inner-cooler ford wont cover it

Mr Ford tech! They denied my claim and I had to foot the bill! Any more questions? The truck was with the piece of junk plastic and 100% stock. Next? I'm just trying to help others not have the same problem.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
Guys, I thinking hard about getting an ECO boost, is it better then the 5.0? I don't really pull nothing but a bay boat and GT rig so I'm looking into it. I have an 1500 GMC 2012 its time to trade it in.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
I like mine. They are both good engines with lots of torque and power. The eco just puts the torque down at a lower rpm. You will be happy either way.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
The eco puts down max torque down at less than 2k rpms. Where as the 5.0 dam near has to red line to put it down.
Look up the specs of both engines to get exact numbers, but it's something like that.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
When they make a decent packaged ford that I can get for around 32-35k range I'll get one. But I'm not paying 47-48k for a truck. Don't get me wrong they are nice. But I just can't swing that kinda note. Lol

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
Anybody have or know of an Eco with 150k+ miles? If you're looking at an Eco I would google and read the f150 forums, it's like gt vs pd. you can guess which is pd.

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
its close they went with the smaller motor cause of the aluminum body they went with is lighter and they can get the same results with a little better fuel economy

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
I was gonna go with the Boost but then I was reading on the F150 forums and decided with the regular 5.0 .. I get 18 mpg on average with mixed driving .... 21 down hwy and 16 pulling boat at 70 ...
With all the turbo failure I read is why I chose the regular

 Re: ECO BOOST OWNERS
I just bought a 2014 fx4 with the 5.0. It is a huge step up from my 4.6 stx but gas mileage I have seen hasnt been what most are seeing. I am averaging about 18 highway havent been close to 20 yet. But its a truck and gas mileage wasnt why I bought it.lol
