Re: trailer build? Well i hit that pretty good. Just scored two 3500# axles with tires and rims for a case of natty light. Aint nothing wrong with that!

Re: trailer build? Lesson learned. Nothing is ever free, or the cost for a case of watered down beer  got the axles, gotta replace everytging on them, blast em and paint them. Got the frame built should have some pics up by mid week. Any particular way yall setting the axles as far as a measurement off the back of trailer?

Re: trailer build? 4" x .25 aluminum channel with a 3 x 3 x .25 squar tubing for tounge. Cut holes in the channel crooss members and ran the tubing just about all the way to the back of trailer, somewhat like a back bone. Trailer has no flex. Also have aluminum fenders. Don't have any build pics though.

Re: trailer build? Quick question on this topic. Ive opted to go single axle 3500#. My question is if the frame is 56 1/2 how long do i need to make the axle itself?

Re: trailer build? If you have a wheel and a tire and hub mock it up and see how much clearance you need for the inside of the tire to the outside of the frame (2-4") then take that away from the length of the axle. Also need to check how wide your fenders are so you won't be too far out.
And cut equal amounts off each side of the axle (if your cutting down an old axle) because axles have a slight bow in them pointing up.
