I've heard people that tried the composite say they weren't rigid enough.

I used treated 2x4s that I capped with 1x4 PVC boards. On top of that, I then put plastic caps they make for bunk boards. Before I had jut the plasic caps on top of treated, and at every seam, my hull was being discolored by the treated wood chemicals leaching.

I haven't heard any negatives from composite boards.

I have my trailer set up like MNGunner. PT 2x4s with a PVC 1x4 cap. I dont have the slick caps on top of mine though. I put the wood grain pattern facing up figuring it was less surface area to grab and seemed more slick than the smooth side. Works great for me.

If ur talking about the composite deck boards them suckers are kind of ruff almost like sand paper especially when wet for added foot traction lol I bet they would hold up but they make a board at lowes that is solid PVC its a 1/2" x 10"wide by 8 10 or 12 ft long it has a wood grain looking side to it but is solid plastic I put it on my trailer and it holds up awesome I just put treated 2x12 under it and bolted straight to the trailer

I used some on a bass tracker years ago. The boards I used were 2 inches thick. They worked well and didn't have any effect on the bottom. They did sag after while. Took them off and ripped a 1 inch deep 1/8 " grove in or. Added a length on angle under it and it took out the sag

See some people using like a 4x6 with the 6" side up and down. what would be the advantage?
