Had a similar situation a few yrs ago. Land was bone dry so we were hunting a land lock ponds. pulled the boat onto the shore to get out and walk. We threw our gear out then my brother jumped off the bow first with his gun, I went next, and when I hit the ground my gun fired. My 1st mistake was having one in the chamber. Gun was on safety and my hand was nowhere near the trigger but somehow fired anyway. Just from having my elders tell me never point a gun at someone at any time loaded or not. Sitting, walking or in this case a short jump off of the bow of the boat. If I had not been aware of where he was or just a momentary lapse in common sense, I could have possibly killed my brother.

Learning experience

I've got a friend who his senior year he and his best friend were walking around a pond shooting turtles with a 22 when Darrel tripped and the gun went off hitting his buddy in the head killing him...... it does happen.
