Whichester Spx and Browning 10 guage
I have had winchester shotguns before and really liked em. How is the SPX? I have a chance to buy one for 300. And then there is a Browning 10 guage that is for sale for 400. Never had a browning or shot a 10 guage. Are the shells easy to find? And is that a good price for a 10guage?

Is the browning a bps? I assume it is and $400 is about right. I will tell u a pump 10 will beat your shoulder up. I shoot a sp10 and even it gets me sometimes. Not sure about down there but up here shells are easy to find.

The 10 browning auto is junk. I shot about a case or so of few different shots and it kept jamming
sent from the marsh

SPX is a great gun! It's a newer design. It's about equal to the 870! I'd jump on the Winchester
If its up high, it's coming to the ground

Re: Whichester Spx and Browning 10 guage
I shoot over a case of 10 gauge shells per year for ducks and geese. I love the loads for more payload not for range (because its no better)... I own an old SP10, and BPS 10 with the 23" barrell, and the Browning Gold Auto 10. I almost exclusively shoot the gold now and it never gets cleaned unless it needs dried out and it never jams. The BPS 10 is just a reliable meat gun where I have shot 2 7/8" and 3 1/2" shells with zero problems. The SP10 I have is a jammer if it gets dirty.
If you're into the BPS, go for it. Shells are always available if you plan ahead, but not the thing you can find at a quickie mart... You can't go wrong with the BPS unless you dislike the bottom load and eject. The recoil is NO more than a 12 gauge shell with the 3 1/2" shell.
If you reload, there are plenty of 10 gauge components easily available. Also, the store have awesome end of season clearances for 10 gauge shells so you can stock up about 1/2 price.
The 10 gauge is a preference thing for me, and isn't for everyone. I'd try it if I were you and decide after a season in the field.

Re: Whichester Spx and Browning 10 guage
I Have the winchester sxp and the browning bps 10 gauge and love both of them. The sxp i have had for about 2 years and havent had a problem out of it. the bps i have had for a few years and havent had any problems out of it either but i only shoot it a few times a year because around here the shells are kinda hard to find and when you do tey are kinda expensive. if i had to pick one it would be the sxp because most stores you go to are gonna have 12 gauge shells. and the 12 is versatile round with duck hunting and dove hunting and everything in between. hope this helps

Re: Whichester Spx and Browning 10 guage
Never shot a 10, dont have a reason too other than to say I have shot one. Im sure they would be great for beating high flying snows with though. I do own an SPX and its a great gun, I keep it in the truck all season as a back up. It always shoots and all my buddies who have used it really like it. Its easy to tear down and my favorite thing is how solid the slide assembly is, its not all loose and sloppy like a nova. You dont really notice the "inertia assist" unless u are screwing around shooting clays one armed. Never cared for a Nova, and everyone I know who owns one wishes they never bought one. You would be best dropping your coin on that winchester in my opinion, good luck with your decision.

Re: Whichester Spx and Browning 10 guage
The browning 10 is pretty much junk IMO. If you like giving it a thorough cleaning after every single use, then it will do alright. 10 gauge shells aren't hard to find, just order them online from rogers sporting goods. You can get a case for 190 bucks. I really dont see the point in a 10 gauge though, just my opinion. All i hunt is geese and a 12 gauge is just fine. I have personally seen 4 different people use 4 different browning 10's and every one of them would hang up.
The benelli Nova is a good gun. Its ugly as hell but I have seen it used as a walking stick and still made it through the hunt. My opinion is the Nova is the new 870. New 870s are junk

Re: Whichester Spx and Browning 10 guage
I've had 5 10Ga Shotguns over past 45 yrs, One S/S Richland, one Tristar O/U, Two Ithaca Mag 10s and a Remington SP 10. All shot Ok using our Reloads. Still shoot the Rem. and Ithacas. Last season picked up a Winchester 3 1/2 12Ga. Like it a lot, swings faster than the tens. Winchesters are made in Belgium by Browning. My trap Gun is a 101 Winchester O/U. IMO they are evey bit as good a gun as Rem. Benilli, and Bretta.
