 Mud buddy 5500 Black Death!!!!
Guys I'm looking to purchase one that's chasing a 1751 excel f4. Who's got one, rode in one, knows someone that has one, anything. I know everyone has different opinions but I'm looking for some input on how y'all liked it and how it performed in the mud and also carrying a load. Anything is appreciated.

Most everybody here will tell you to get one with reverse. As for my opinion, the black death is a good motor, as for the excel. Just go custom, you will come out cheaper and much happier. Those excels are not built well and heavy and slow. Where u located.

It trips me out when people say the Excels weren't built good. Yes they messed up offering a .100 gauge hull but if they weren't built good, bracing wise, why would Gator-Tail end up using the same for the stringers on their boats?
I had a 1751 Excel F4 with upgrade to 5086 .125 hull with a PVT MB 35. Solo I was 32-33. Loaded I was 30. I liked my rig but what you see is what you get. There's no custom touch to them.

Yes the upgrade is better and stringers are just pieces of metal. But are excels one piece hulls... And when you factor in price, why not get exactly what u want. If the op really wants a boat there is an excel on the classifieds here. I don't mean they are junk, i have a couple guys i know run them. Hell i think they are one of the best looking boats but I'd rather beable to design my own rig, to my needs.

Good on the one piece! I honestly forgot that info. There is a weld that runs right down the middle of the hull. And I wasn't contradicting you. Just stating some facts. They're heavy because they have storage already built into them. You load any boat full of boxes and they'll weigh the same.
I agree on going with someone who will build a rig to your specs.

Yeah the foam they add doesn't help either, but it'll float. I agree with you sir.
