Got my idle adjusted down to 1150. Govenor is turned up also. Only thing now is I still have about 3/4 inch of travel on the throttle before it starts revving. Oh, the cable wasn't in a bind.

Just be sure you are reaching full throttle before the throttle lever contacts the handle.

Post Re: GTR 35 arrived today!
Took the boat out again today after adjusting the idle and rpms. Motor ran great. I still am looking for the answer to getting more upward trim. Thinking of adding a shim to the bottom of the transom to angle the motor up a little more to see if that helps any. I still think if I could get a little more I could get more speed. Had myself and father =525 , 10 gallon of fuel and got 24.6 at 3900 rpms. I will do a full review when I get done tinkering with it.

For a stage 1 gtr it should definitely be better than that.

I had a stage one on a not so perfect heavy boat and it did 30 empty and 27-28 loaded.

With your setup, turning the 3 blade at 3900 rpm, I would think you are getting enough trim, but your speeds should be better. Didn't ur sport v run 28 - 29 ish?

Get down even with the bottom of boat and take a picture of motor and boat.

It's a tall transom and tall motor. Probably won't be until Sunday until I can get a pic up. I will try to take several angles to see if you guys can nail it down for me. Like I said before, gtr is new to me

Post Re: GTR 35 arrived today!
I have ran the boat a few times now and have kept an eye to see if I was possibly splashing/pulling water up between the belt housing and the transom. It's been dry each time, so I eliminated the probability of the motor hanging lower than the bottom of the boat and slowing me down. Only other thing I can think is the angle being off a bit.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. If my out of water rpms are set at 4700 but I'm only getting 3900 in water then the out of water rpms are irrelevant .....is this correct?

If you are not getting full travel with your throttle, it is still possible to turn up high rpms out of water. Pull your filter and verify the the butterfly is fully opening. If it is, then I'm betting it's your prop/boat.

Post Re: GTR 35 arrived today!
Maybe this will help give someone an idea. Went out today with 814 pounds worth of people, three batteries, trolling motor, 10 gallon of gas and got 22mph@ 3850 rpms. Adding weight doesn't seem to drop my rpms much but speed falls off a little.
I'm still thinking there is more left to the motor.
I attached a picture for you guys to look at the motor and bottom of the boat to see if it looks alright or not.
This is trimmed all the way up and there is about 3.5 hours on the motor.

Do you have a 2 blade to throw on it to test?

I'm guessing they didn't change the gear ratio or anything did they?

I don't know anybody around here that would have a 2 blade to try. Hate to buy one just to see,but it might be my only bet. I was not told anything about changing the gear ratio.
I'm not disappointed in the motor because I know there is more there, I just need to figure out how to get it.

Post Re: GTR 35 arrived today!

Pete, not sure if this helps, but here's my Gtr on my gt hull (trimmed all the way up middle pin) I can't really tell much about ur pic but it looks like ur belt housing sits a little higher than mine. Maybe ur motor needs to be trimmed down to run best on ur hull thus losing some speed/rpm. ?? Angle's a little off.

Well I just talked to Hoyt. Gonna try the 2 blade to see if it makes a difference.
