 need some serious info
I have a 16x38 welded 1/8 boat flat bottom tapered chines pushed by an 18 hp copper head. I thought it would do a lot better. It seems to not want to get on step and does 19 by myself and 17/18 with me and another person. I'm thinking it's the trim tab that's has been added on to the boat. Also it seems like the motor does not trim down far enough until the screw trim bottoms out. Any help would be appreciated thanks

 Re: need some serious info
Trim tab not the problem. You are simply underpowered.

 Re: need some serious info
what rpms are you running in water/out of water. where is your motor trimmed. How much extra shit you got in the boat. Is your gas tank and battery up front. How much do you and your buddy weigh. How deep of water were you riding
I have a 23 on a 1744 .100 welded tapered chine and see 23-25 with 2 people shallow water. With the same load in deep water Im running 19-22. Your not to far off but you should be able to get a few more mph out of that setup.
