 Thoughts on this rig
After searching for quite some time I've come across a rig I'm thinking of purchasing. It's an 2010 Aucoin 1942 with a 2008 GTR35 with 50 hrs on it. Boat size isn't exactly what I was looking for, wanted a 1754, but I've read some good things about Aucoin boats. Started out wanting a Mud Buddy but after researching them a bit I've changed my mind and would like a Gator Tail motor. He says it runs 33 with one person in deep water, I know the guy personally so he will be straight with me.

 Re: Thoughts on this rig
It runs about 27 on a good day with a stock GTR. There are stage 2 motors running 33 on smaller boats.

 Re: Thoughts on this rig
Seems a little high to me. I would be thinking more in the 8500-9000 range. I bet it runs 30+, but not sure about 33.

 Re: Thoughts on this rig
It very well may run that fast. Rick built some fast boats, and those older Gator-Tails were faster too. A member used to have a 19x48 that Rick built that ran real close to 30 with a stock engine.

 Re: Thoughts on this rig
I have a 1744 and its nice comfortable to hunt out of and I can get through some culverts under the road to access some out of the way fishing spots. If my boat was any wider I probably wouldn't make it. The boat is a little tippy but not bad enough where you feel like you going to fall out. It doesnt take rough water great so I tend to avoid white caps when fishing. That being said I wouldn't even consider anything skinnier eventhough you have the length to stack gear its tough to move around so planning how you load the is important. The only reason I went with a narrow hull is because I already had a 23 HP motor. IF I had a 35 hp I would go with something in the range of 48-54 my buddy has an 1852 and its a great all around rig for hunting and fishin and we can still fit it in some pretty tight spots.
