 Alligators and bright lights
To get up to a large gator I've read that the use of a dimmer on your light helps. Is this marketing bs or is a dimmer worth having?

 Re: Alligators and bright lights
Depends on where you're at and how much "heat" they get, I've gone as far as night vision and IR illuminators to see them....

 Re: Alligators and bright lights
But overall a less bright light or shining it up helps, I think most animals react to lights as if its closer or farther rather than brighter or dimmer...the brighter it is, the closer they think you are....

 Re: Alligators and bright lights
Never fooled with a dimmer but we seem to get closer with a red light vs. white.

 Re: Alligators and bright lights
Cool. I have a red filter for my spot light. Im planning on doing quite a bit of looking before the hunt date so I will do some experimenting to see what works the best.

 Re: Alligators and bright lights
We usually just hunt them during daytime. Only night hunting we do is when we have tags left going into the end of the season.

 Alligators and bright lights
MS wised up and finally let us hunt them 24/7 during our season. They are easier for sure during the day, if you can spot them. During the night, I use a red lens.
