 the hunt from hell
I invited two guys the other day (whom I have known for awhile but had never hunted with before) to go hunt, one old and one young...and the fun began. First, my throttle cable pretty much broke at the boat ramp. After a nice boat ride, and using needlenose pliers to adjust the speed, we got to the hole. Second, I began setting out dekes and breaking ice. Soon after that I was INSTRUCTED from the heated boat blind by the elderly gent (apx. 70 years young) to pick all but about 7 decoys because that was "all we would need." Third, everybody decided they would get their calls out! The younger of the two has been hunting for about 2 years and thinks he is a Duck Commander reincarnated and the older man sounded like a crow. So needless to say no birds..... yet. Fourth, the younger guy decided to feed his lab a leftover spicy chicken sandwich before we left. So with the way things were going it didn't suprise me we he shit all over my boat TWICE. Last but not least when the old man killed the only bird of the day he claimed was a mallard, and the dog brought back that nice spoonbill drake it made the day. Hope you'lls season is going better than mine.

Nice Story... A few hunts like that, and you could write a book.

 Re: the hunt from hell
I feel your pain!!I had a dumb ass relative that I would take hunting that is a little slow!I would take him hunting and fishing all the time because nobody else would!! I couldn't even hunt because of having to watch him the whole time!!Guess what?He got himself a damn dog to take with us and beleive me when they say dogs act like their owners,This dog was as dumb as him!Had enough and put his ass up the road Now I have some of the best hunts with some of the greatest guys My point is be careful who you ask to join you in a hunt

 Re: the hunt from hell
Sometimes it's just about giving back a little and taking them older guys out because they can't do it much on there own anymore. We will all be in the older gentlemans shoes one day and hopefully we will have someone there to bring our stubborn asses out there too.

 Re: the hunt from hell
Old people should be better than that. They've had longer to get their shit together. A good friend of mine that I hunt and fish with a lot is just not cut out to be a duck hunter. He's a deer killing mo-chine. But that mug gets ants in the pants at 9:30 unless we have melted the barrels and birds are still coming. He was laid up sick and poosy whipped during the cold spell. That and he didn't want to get up at 3am and freeze to death. We did and we shot more mallards and geese than in a long time. He sees the forecast is 50 today and decides he can go.....6 buffleheads for the group. Sorry damn day. He was ready to eat lunch at 9am. We made him stay until 1pm.
