 Trailer not pulling right
Have a McClain trailer and never had an issue. Recently its all over the road when I get around 60-65. All variables look normal and can't see that anything has changed with my setup. Hub bearing changed last yr and look to be ok, boat sitting in same spot on trailer, tires good and air pressure the same. I can't figure it out. Used to be able to run the interstate at 80 but now the bastard wants to sway and run all over the place. Any ideas?

tires? I had a trailer tire start separating (looked fine) that acted like that.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Might be in a bind... check the axle and make sure its square.. you may have hit a pot hole or somthing and threw it off a smidge..

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Sound like something got knocked out of whack. More than likely the axle alignment.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Those McClain trailers have u bolts on everything. Do you think maybe the axle slid back a little? Or to the side? Got to be something like they saying above. Maybe bent a spindle

Haven't been any bad roads lately but something has happened for sure. Springs seem to be ok. Im going to get a tape and measure everything in the morning.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
You pulling the trailer with the same vehicle? If so axles must a little out. It doesn't take much.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Have you changed the load at all? The tongue weight or more importantly lack of tongue weight can cause a trailer to track poorly.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
make sure the axle is square. if so jacks the trailer up and push and pull on the tire to see if you have slack in the spindles

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Try changing our one tire at a time with your spare. If it was an axle alignment issue I'd think it would do it at slower speeds. I'm leaning toward a tire issue.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
"pulling" on most vehichles is caused by worn parts/tires ect - off alighment is mostly drifting and steering wheel off center to correct alighment and abnormal tire wear.
if trailer "tape measures out square" and no visible worn misaligned pieces parts, check them tires pretty close

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Are the tires wearing abnormally?
We had a McClain and it was wearing tires very quickly.
Axle looked fine to the eye so we thought everything fine with axle and couldn't figure it out.
Turned out the axle was slightly bent when you put a straight edge on it.. Bent right in the middle and couldn't really see it just looking at it especially trying to look with boat on trailer.
Good luck. Let us know what you find out.

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
Its possible I guess. Those ultras go down pretty quick on a hot afternoon...lol. Looked at it and found a bad spot on the inside of one of my tires. Its a junker Carlisle tire and im pretty sure that its the culprit. Gonna put a new set on and see how it runs..

 Re: Trailer not pulling right
The proper way to check axle alignment is to:
1. Take tires off. 2. Turn hubs till a stud is in the most forward position towards the tounge. 3. Measure from that stud to the inside of the trailer coupler(the piece that moves)
Measure both sides and they should be the same if it's aligned.
I just built a trailer and that's how I was told to do it.
