So earlier this year I thought teal season would be great until I remembered all the idiots we have. Secondly I was out fishing yesterday and so so new ducklings that are not even a week old by the time teal season rolls around they might not even be as big as teal. So the i just have a feeling their is going to be so mallards that ran even a month old and are dumb as hell just to fly in and get destroyed.

I was out checking a spot today and half the ducks I saw couldn't even fly. I don't like this but what can you do.

Sounds like we might get ir in Iowa too. Not real sure what I think. Was out last weekend and seen lots of ducks still too young to fly.

Can the dnr still cancel it or do they have to wait?

They havent even released our dates yet in Iowa. Its in their proposed dates though.

Wisconsin dates will be put out this week.

Some of the ducklings I saw yesterday were about the size of the little yellow ducks.

So a few of you have seen a late brood and you think it should be the end all to having a teal season.

I was just joking bout the veal, at least you guys only have a 7 day season instead of 15. That may help considering there will only be one weekend and a day for the weekend warriors to get after it.

Our shooting time for teal starts at sunrise instead of half hour before to promote proper identification...for some that still isnt enough.

No. I just think it makes more sense to have only the southern zone open the first year. I hunt the northern half of the northern zone and am somewhat concerned about the effect of this season on the first couple weeks of the regular season. Who knows. I am hunting five of the seven days of the teal season. That's how my schedule worked out.

Seems like in the Northern production states, you're going to be affecting a lot of local birds more so than you would down south with early teal seasons.

MNGUNNER. that's my concern too. I'd rather have the youth have a great hunt. I know it's an experiment but my personal opinion is this will make a long first couple of weeks after opener.
