 Gator glide opinions
What's everywhere opinion on the gator glide! I have a buddy that has it does work good but it doesn't seem to hold up! Running across really shallow areas and looking at it now it has taken the gator glide off back to the bare aluminum!

 Re: Gator glide opinions
how many coats did he put on?
As with any application most of it is preparation of the surface before applying that will determine longevity and durability throw in mixing product and curing time and conditions. But as you may or may not know, nothing lasts forever.

 Re: Gator glide opinions
It's my boat he is talkin about. I did everything like I was supposed to. From prep to drying time. Hell I left the boat upside down for almost 2 weeks then on trailer for another week. I put on 5 coats of base and 4 coats of glide. 1st time out runnin shallow I've already got Scraps all the way to bare alum in a few spots. And Wear on the back

 Re: Gator glide opinions
I put G2 on a couple weeks ago. I did 5 thin coats the first night and 2 more very thin coats two days later. I did not use the gator base, but I wiped very well with acetone before starting. It cured for 12 days, since I didn't get a chance to run it until this weekend and I put it through its paces in a shallow sandy bottom and in the cattails. The stuff is amazing. Incredible difference.
I thought that there is NO way that it would still be on the bottom of the boat after running in contact with sand for several miles. I went over some downed logs too. When I took the boat out of water, it was all there and showed no wear spots whatsoever. I fully expected that it would be an expensive experiment and that I would see bare aluminum, but now I'm a believer.
I wore 3/4" off of a prop in that trip but the gator glide on the bottom of the boat is all there. It holds up.

 Re: Gator glide opinions
I've been running the G2 without base for over a year now. I did 5 thin coats with sanding and acetone for the prep work. The only thing that has scratched it was ice. Sand, vegetation, and logs haven't touched it.

 Re: Gator glide opinions
Afterwards, I did go down to bare hull and did the base and G4. I prefer the G2 and will continue to use it. The pros far out way the con's. Its awesome shit.

 Re: Gator glide opinions
I put GG on my old Smoker Craft this summer and couldn't believe the difference it made. Loading and unloading is easier, slides over beaver dams and when you run out of water it makes pushing the boat much easier. Well worth the money.
