Then cover it with Best Step anti fatigue foam from Sears.

Re: Best flooring for a Jon boat?
Ive got 3 boats with 1/2" AC fur for flooring...its gonna be the easiest to work with if you wanted to go with wood...its the most water resistant wood you can get...Coat it with zintox and it will last as long as your boat...Ive 2 that are 7 years now no rot...Just another alternative if you wanted to use wood..

4x4' scrap aluminum road construction signs or 4x8' Interstate exit signs, rivited or welded and fitted around ribs. Used 1 Qt. oil bottles silconed glue to bottom of boat between ribs for support and floatation. Prime and painted with roll on truck bed paint.

Re: Best flooring for a Jon boat?
I did a cheap alternative, 1/2 inch plywood with sealer on it. Works for me and was only $20 for a sheet. I put carpet over it, and run it!!
Been on for a year and a half, i leave the boat outside 24 /7 and its still strong as day 1

I used marine grade plywood covered with camo neo mating. Works good for me.

I was going to use marine grade plywood but that stuff cost more then a 4 by 10 sheet of 1/10" aluminum and aluminum is way lighter and will never ever break down.

Re: Best flooring for a Jon boat?
For my 24x72 Seaark I used 3/16 tread plate aluminum. My boat was/is beat up from commercial fishing and the sides are dinged up and the ribs were broken in the center of the boat. I went with the thicker floor to stiffen the boat up. I found the ribs are not on center and as mentioned I made a jig for one side and a jig for the other. Worked out good. The floor is now sealed and she rams waves with the best of them. She is my second comm fishing boat and sees action every now and then. The big plate boat gets the daily call and it has 1/8 treadplate flooring. However the ribs are 12 inch centers. Go aluminum.

Re: Best flooring for a Jon boat?
Depends what you call a jon boat... Is this a 14' pop rivet hull or a custom welded 18 footer? On my 14' I took closed cell foam and cut to fit between the ribs of the floor to level it out and then topped it with Neo-mats to hold down the foam and give some extra squish... It's all removable to wash out twice a year and stays put while trailered and going down the highway or interstate. How much is this boat worth? Couple hundred bucks you'd bet Id be happy with some sealed plywood cut to fit... But if you dropped the money on a nice custom hull, go all the way and do it right so it'll last.

For less then a couple hundred bucks you can get a sheet of 1/10" aluminum 4 by 10 foot.
