Anybody own one? Like/dislike? Towing? MPG?

I'm in the market for a new truck and have a pretty long commute to work (53mi one way) so trying to get something we decent gas mileage. I have a Tundra now and get around 17/hwy, not terrible, but know I can get better.

Anyone have a newer ('08 n up) truck and can voice the MPG?

I'm not trying to start a Ford/GM/Toyota/Dodge argument so go jack up someone else's thread.

Thanks

J, I drive 57 miles one way to Baton Rouge, I know your situation. Having had more Toyota's than I can count and looking at a new one now, here's what I can tell you, V6 4x4=21-22mpg highway MAX, 4cly 4x4=20-21mpg highway. the six cyl. will get about 24mpg in 4x2 and the 4 cyl. will get up around 28mpg in a 4x2. from a standard to a auto there is not a lot of diff. in mileage. Towing, the 4cly has all it wants with just a surface drive rig behind ,I would go with the V6. These little trucks will out last them all, the sticker price is the hard thing to swallow! I have put 250,000 miles on more than one and the biggest repair I've had is a clutch job.

Have an 09 tacoma quad cab "off road" model, short box. Mileage isn't that great, but it sure beats the 7mpg I was getting with my F250! Gets bout 17 around town, running two tracks and lots of stop and go use. See just over 20 on highway. I pretty much figure the mileage every tank.

It pulls the bumper pull two horse trailer at just under 5k dang good, with no squat and will roast the larger than stock tires when you get on it.

Dislike, alot, all the gizmos/gadgets/sensors made for stupid people that don't know how to drive in the snow or mud. You can turn some of the traction control crap off, but have to be stopped to do so. It's nearly impossible to spin a donut or even get sideways on ice with the anti-lock/traction control stuff on.

The off road model has the manual diff lock option, where the sport doesn't.

Driving in 4wd , work and back, coyote hunting, around town in the ice/snow kills mpg.

Pulled my yam rhino and lots of gear on an aluminum trailer around 900 miles this fall, and seen like 14 mpg at best if I remember right.

My old 4 banger 4x4 toyotas got like 20mpg, but didn't have half the balls the new ones got.

Diesel Diesel Diesel Diesel

Not only is it good for towing, Ya get a nice big comfy truck and still get 19 or so on the highway when ya not towing,

I pulled a 28' Grady White Cuddy Cabin from Venice back to Lafayette and got about 13.5 pulling it @ 75 in my Duramax
