 17 18ft?
What is the difference looking at a 17 or 18 ft boat with the duck transom how much is that foot going to make a difference with speed and carrying a load? not sure on how the storage situation is going to work with and 18 gonna be close with the 17.

not much of a difference, but get the 18ft. you'll be happier in the end with that extra foot.

 Re: 17 18ft?
by you talkin bout the duck transom guessin youre lookin at excel
Those boats are awesome but never been built for speed
the overall rule of thumb for 17 ft boats is they will be faster unloaded but more load you add the more it falls off
18 ft wont be really any slower empty but carry load better without falling off

 Re: 17 18ft?
i know. just seemed everyone is so concerned with speed. like 4mph is going to make or break the day people brag about goin from 30.5 to 31.9 is not very impressive to me. The main point is to get to where you want to go. That being said, i understand speed is nice but not a necessity. From what i hear, Aucoin hulls put out some good speeds and the extremes seem to be popular among guys on here. hope that helps a little. Josh

 Re: 17 18ft?
some ppl say speed isnt important but im not the kind of guy who likes getting passed on the way out to a spot get you an 18x46 and you will have the speed you want and the load carrying capabilities. as far as brand of boat goes, my gatortail boat is pretty quick aucoin and borel boats are not only fast as well, but both look dam good. what kind of motor you got?
