 Charge your battery?
So my battery is about a year old and it wasn't acting sluggish when I went out, but I got down river about 3 miles from my launch and cut the engine. When I went to start it again, the battery was dead. I was thinking the alternator was charging my battery, but maybe not. Any thoughts?
I recharged the battery and had it load tested and they said it was good.

 Re: Charge your battery?
Yea I have 4 18W LEDs on the front, but there were not on, bow and stern lights as well, gps...My GPS was on when it died, but didn't think it was the issue. I check all my switches and none were on. I have an on board battery charger that I will just hook up and charge the battery. A buddy brought me a new battery out to the river when I was in a bind.

 Re: Charge your battery?
Yea. Alternator is not charging or you have some wiring issues causing assecories to draw when not in use.

 Re: Charge your battery?
If it cranked fine at the ramp and was then dead after you shut it off, I'll bet you accidentally left the key in the 'on' position and the ECU killed your battery. How long between shutting it off and trying to restart? Since doing it once (at the house, luckily), when I set up to hunt, part of my routine is removing the key from the ignition altogether and stowing it in my boat bag. There's a thread here in the engine forum titled "adding a pull start" in which a pretty slick little backup battery is discussed in case of a main battery failure. A bunch of us have bought these little batteries or similar ones; might want to check them out. http://store.starkpower.com/Jump-Box-Ba ... _c_37.htmlNot much bigger than a cell phone and they offer between 200-300cca and 400-600 peak cranking amps for $100-120 and weigh about 1-2lbs.

This is what I carry with me...it will jump a boat/truck and will charge a phone. Comes with a bunch of different adaptors to fit anything that needs to be charged

 Re: Charge your battery?
Something similar happened to me, cranked up at the launch fine and when we went to leave the first fishing hole I had a dead battery. I called gator tail and Hoyt told me to cut the plug that snaps the wires together coming from the voltage regulator and splice it back without the snap plug, he said that's usually the first thing to go. It was already done by the previous owner so I had to by a new voltage regulator which was $93 and now I'm good to go. Just something you can look into.
