Fishing the marsh during duck season?
OK, I have been fishing PAC, Montegut, and Chauvin this year and now that duck season is here I am looking for some guidance on how to keep fishing but not disturb hunters(get shot). Is there an unspoken type of rule of time or anything else? TKS

Do not wear a yellow vest or jacket.

Just stay 400M away from anyone. Better yet stay to fuck out of the Marsh till hunting season is over you have all year to fish give the hunter a brake and just don't fish.

Re: Fishing the marsh during duck season?
We share narrow tidal creeks with fishermen here. All I ask is that when the fishermen get to the part of the creek where I am hunting, and need to pass, that they do so as quickly as possible and not loiter near my decoys. Unfortunately, it is impossible to return the favor. I pass them at an idle, but it still isn't quiet.

Re: Fishing the marsh during duck season?
If you see people hunting, be courteous and try to move to a spot where no hunters are around. You know if you're too close if you can hear their conversation or calling. You're a lot more mobile than someone who is setting up hunting, so just be courteous and move.
If you don't see hunters and fish and the hunters see you, I'm sure they'll let you know they're there, one way or another.
Last year, a guy came in our pond to sight fish, while we were hunting. He trolled the pond and area for about 45 minutes and couldn't care less that we were there. Big 'ol white flats boat. That is an example of not being courteous haha. I returned the favor after the hunt and boated all the area he was fishing to muddy the water. Cheers

Re: Fishing the marsh during duck season?
I understand fishing is part of the deal but if at all possible stay a long ways away. If you are downwind 300 or 400 yards might be enough but probably not. We have bass fisherman on top of us all the time and it is annoying as hell! They have all day to fish and we are only doing our thing for a couple hours most of the time
