Just came back home from camp and asked my neighbors how they had done opening Teal. He said they has lost their lease. Last year they paid $12,000. The new lease holder paid $35,000 !!!! He said as long as the oil business remains good, prices will continue to climb. The average Joe is getting squeezed out.

Average Joe been getting squeezed out for years. It's ridiculous how much people will pay to say they got a hunting lease. And don't know squat about hunting. Good to see some land owners would rather have less money for hunters who will improve the lease.

Damn I'm glad we don't have that shit up here! I don't know a single person that pays to hunt. There are some guide services that lease fields, but all water is public up here.

Damn. My buddy leases 160 acres in hopedale for 500 a year.

factory farms are too.... had about 5000 acres of public paper co timber land sold to factory farm all within 2-3 sq miles of my cabin. Lost 2 of my 4 best stand locations and 1 ok/decent spot Its all sweet corn now but every tom dick and harry is squeezed onto less and less land.

We don't pay a penny to hunt anywhere. And we do everything in our powers to fuck, or drive out any guides that do come around flashing money. To me if you want to run a guide service you should own the land. Not fuck it up for everyone else trying not to pay to hunt. And yes I do own a179 acrs and would not ever give in to money to let people hunt it.

Around here, if you don't own or lease you don't hunt much. We do not have the public access many parts of the country enjoy.
