 First trip to Kansas
Me and 3 other buddies struck out for Kansas over fall break for a early duck hunt, killed mostly blue wing teal, but managed to knock out 11 species, all in all it was fun and will be going back next year. We killed 75 in 3 days, totally worth the drive from alabama

 Re: First trip to Kansas
Kansas is a great state to hunt waterfowl in, lots of public land, and depending on the time of year and area, not much pressure at all.. I like to go down in December lots of mallards. No guide is needed, for areas and bird counts I use there web site kdwpt.state.ks.us.

 Re: First trip to Kansas
My nephew played baseball for Pratt Junior college in Kansas. He connected with some local folks and got unlimited access to some pot holes/corn fields around the area and murdered the mallards on a regular basis. Like was said, no hunting pressure at all. The birds concentrate in large numbers in small areas where there's water and corn. I was pissed off at him, too....for not inviting me.

Kansas really is a nice place to hunt. Haven't been in a while because we lease in Ark but I'm itching to go back.

 Re: First trip to Kansas
I live in Kansas (lifetime). From your pictures it looks like you were at the marsh from my hometown. My son and I hunted there about 10 days ago. We killed 2 limits of bluewing. I'm told the birds all pressured out, but sounds like you found them either before it happened or the birds came back.
Kansas can be great, but just like anywhere, public land gets pressured.
I am glad you enjoyed Kansas.
