 TN Opening Weekend. We mashed on 'em! 51 Mallards in the timber before 11:00. All killed at eye level, no more than 15 yards out.

Re: TN Opening Weekend. We mashed on 'em! I was a guitar player touring with a band and we stayed at a hotel in a small town in Tennessee one night. The phone system was fairly rudimentary so I called the front desk to find out if I could call the steel guitar player who was staying in another room. Here's the conversation that ensued:
Front desk attendant: Yes sir, all you have to do is mesh the room numbers.
Me: Mesh what numbers?
Attendant: Just mesh the room number you are calling.
Me: Mesh them with what...my room number as in combine them?
Attendant: No sure, you don't need to mesh the two numbers, just the one you are calling.
Me: But you said to mesh the numbers so what other numbers do I mesh it with, a code or something?
Attendant: Sir, all you have to do is pick up the phone, put your index finger on the first number of the room number, mesh it down, and continue to the next until you've meshed them all down.
I hung up and could not stop laughing. She was saying "mash", as in press the number. So I learned what the word mashed ment in Tennessee.
