 No ducks = more deer!
Birds haven't been flyin very good so I've been deer hunting a little more this year. I've got 2 nice bucks with a rifle now I'm going to try to kill one with a bow for the first time.
First one is a 8 pt and the second is a main frame 10 pt with 2 kickers.

That's as good a reason as any to go bush. My old man does it every opening weekend, goes bush for a deer. Figures no one else will be hunting, they're all chasing ducks.

Re: No ducks = more deer!
My future paw in law has 60 acres ann this year we've killed 2- 8 pts, that 10 and old spike. The club behind us has killed an 8 and a 7. Still have pictures of a few good bucks that could be killed.

Ducks arent working here either. I might start deer or hog hunting too.

Re: No ducks = more deer!
Congrats.
However, I would say that unless this is the only year you will have access to this land and only year you will be hunting it, I would slow down on the bucks and specifically go for quality 4.5 yr and up deer.
The normal rule of thumb in game management is 1 buck per 100 acres per year harvested.
It is hard to "manage" only 60 acres and unless everyone around you is managing as well then your quality management will only go so far, but there are only so many quality bucks in an area and you can turn a property south very quickly.
Sometimes sacrificing a year or two to have a stronger, bigger, healthier herd in the long run pays off with being able to take a really nice buck every year or two as opposed to lesser bucks more often.
All that based on trophy and not meat hunting, but if you are meat hunting then taking does would be better for both eating and management anyway. (don't know the rules on does where you live)
Good Luck.

Re: No ducks = more deer!
We're not managing. The club next to us kills anything that walks. And luckily they have been doing good this year.
We haven't killed a deer off of this place in 2 years so I guess its paying off. The only rule we go buy is 8 or better.
