Post Building an Outboard MM
I have an old Johnson 10 hp lower unit that i had rebuilt when i had my old 10hp. Wondering if anyone has the mid-section (the part that covers my shaft. A buddy of mine has a 9hp lawnmower motor that he said i could have and i am kind of interested in building an MM out of the two. The lower unit has F-N-R so im thinking it would make it nice. It would be similar to the 5hp briggs they sale at academy for like 1000$. BBUUUTTTTT i am missing that mid-section part for it to work. Just wondering if anyone has one just lying around that they would be willing to get rid of so i can experiment with my idea.

ALSO, I was wondering what yall think of the idea. :?: :?: :?:

go to an outboard shop. most will have mid and lower sections with blown power heads. they will probley give you one or sell it for scrap price.

you can adapt it to your lawn motor. it wont be a mm but it will work. gets you away from the water cooling.

if you can get the blown crank you can cut the spline end off and have it mechined to fit the motor output.

Don't know where you are located, but there was a fellow in Uncertain, Tx that unfortuneatly just passed a way-he was a hell of a guy-that had a place called shade tree marine.

He had more boat and motor parts spread around there than you can imagine.

Not sure what is happening with his place now that he is gone, but if you could go by there, and see what is going on, you could probably get about any part you need for any motor.

Great guy-sorry to lose him!

Good luck Bootzz!
