 20 x 60 Boat
Anyone run a 20x60 center console with a single motor? If so, can you post up the speeds you get with it. May have one in the works, but was wondering if a single 35 would even be enough power behind it to get it on plane, and carry a load. I know duals would be the better option, but that just isn't going to happen right now.
Thanks for the help.

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
Is there really that much of a difference speed wise between a 18ft or 20ft. ?

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
I run a 2060 with stock 36 PD and have no problem getting on plane. Not a console I run tiller. Full load which includes 3 men, one 95lb black lab one 75 lb black lab 30 goose floaters, 2 dozen G&H super mag mallards, 2 batteries, 12 gallons of gas, all the other little sheet we all have in the boat. We ran up river against the current we got on plane and ran in the 20mph range--(not GPS we fried that) just my estimate. It did get on plane without issue. Understand a 2060 just won't keep up with some of these little puddle jumpers that people run but if you have more than one friend the 2060 is nice.

With 2 peopls 100 and 140 it ran 28+ in deep water all day.
Im sure when we have the Wallisville ride we will bring it and you can check it out for yourself if you can make it.

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
I run a 20 50 and I get on step with a GDSD 35 HP. I have had no issues other than my boat runs a bit slower than most. There are a whole lot of factors that can slow a boat down. The biggest issue is the size of the drver (ME). Me being 300 pounds puts my motor performance behind the 8 ball. THen you got my fat ass brother too. The decreasae in performance can go on and on.
So far as the width of the boat, I think it gets you on step faster with a wider boat. Maybe I am wrong but think the bigger the footprint the faster on plane.

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
i know some one that has a stock 36hp pro-drive on a 18x48 PD boat an he can barely get on step with 4 people!
Something isn't right with that picture. You would need to define "barely" for me. No it is not going to jump up and haul a.. at 40 mph, but a 36 should get up and run fine with 4 people. Have a stock 32 on a 16X48 (with hooks in the bottom) and it runs good with 4 guys. Little slow on getting on plane, but gets on up and goes (not sure but probably at least 20+ no gps-just guess)...
As far as your original question, you should be fine with a stock 35. Not going to set any speed records, but should run you fine as the other guys are saying...
The bigger boats help sometimes and really help with the load carrying. It is all about water displacement and therefore drag.... I am no expert and there are a bunch of guys on here who know way more than me, but it sure seems like that is what I am seeing from them. Frankly it is a concept I had to get used to myself. I used to think it was all about small boat/ big motor.... and that may be true for no load and speed as the goal, but it doesn't really apply to "all-purpose" usage and carrying some bigger loads. As with all things, there is a balance though....
Maybe some guys who have that package (as you asked ) will post up some speeds for you..... (rather than people who don't throwing out half-a..ed opionions)
Good luck.

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
Mine's not 2060, but 2054, all .125 including floor and boxes and it will run shallow 31 mph empty. A full 3 man hunting load with dog/dekes 25-26 deep water.
These speeds are with a evt stage 1 with a stock prop. It's only 2-3 mph slower than my pd1848 was, but has alot more room and carries a load much better, fwiw......

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
I have on a couple of occasions run side by side 18 and 20 foot lengths of the same make and width of boat. Same HP engines. Both times, the 20 footer hopped on plane faster than the 18 footer. I think the extra length pulls the front end of the boat down faster and flattens it out.
The boats were: 1854 Gatortrax vs. 2054 Gatortrax 1650 HuntDeck Gatortrax vs. 1850 HuntDeck Gatortrax (hunt deck boats have an extra 20" added to the published length, making these boats 17'8" and 19'8").
I seriously considered a 20 footer on my last boat but ended going with a Phowler 1852 flat front. If I'd have been able to put the 20 footer in my garage and close the door that is the way I would have gone. In these parts, inside boat storage is a must.

 Re: 20 x 60 Boat
I have a 20x60 with 14 "sides and wide gunnel's like a flats boat. new stock 35hp gdsd with 2 big men 22mph. stage 1 25mph stage 3 while it held up 30mph just me and full tank of gas, 27.5 with hard AL blind in place and 3 men.
If you build it light and stay away from high sides it will be OK. If you are not happy with low 20's go dual 27 or 35 hp. stay away from internal mod's or increasing compression. Stage 1 (42 mm carb)with light head work and new stainless valves is OK as long as you don't deck them other than to make them flat. Don't run more than 4250 rpm. If you look at the old site you should find photo's and reviews of my rig.
