1670 landau mud motor options for Mobile Delta?
Hi,
My first post...so, yesterday is the first time I hunted the Mobile Delta. After dragging my boat for miles yesterday in the Mobile Delta, and being too dang tired to duck hunt today...I figured it's time for a mud motor.
My boat is a 1670f landau. I removed the fish boxes a couple of years ago. It's powered by a yamaha 25 two stroke. When I'm not duck hunting with this boat, I'm dropping crab traps with it.
I was looking to put a mud motor on it for duck season and swapping the yamaha 25 back on it for the rest of the year. I figured after my wife helps me swap motors a few years, she'll be like "Why don't you just get a boat for each motor".
I usually run with 3 people, a blind, a dog and fill the rest up with decoys. Right now, my two stroke 25 will push the rig about 23 mph via gps when we're loaded down.
I'm not sure if I should get a long tail, or short tail or which brand. I'm hoping that one of ya'll know of someone who has down something like this and can steer me clear of mistakes.
Thanks,
Jonn

I went by L and M today and they had just sold their last mud rig to the man - it was a gatortail setup and already off the lot. Then I stopped in Bass Pro and they had two mud buddy rigs. Later I talked to some guys at the boat ramp and talked to them about their setups - a copperhead and a godevil . I guess I just got to check out a lot of different rigs and see what'll work around the delta and in the grass of escambia bay.

I was at the launch this morning. I have a 35 GTR on a Cottonmouth custom and I love it. But like duck hearse said, nothing runs in sand. I had a longtrail before I went to a SD and It will wear you out running the causeway. And Had a PD right after I sold my LT and I just wanted something with instant reverse for frogging.
