Post My boat is hard as hell to steer.
16x50 gatortrax with huntdeck and a 2014 gatortail with the 32"outdrive. This boat is a bitch to turn. The best way I have found is to get a little more weight on the side of the boat that im on but even then it's a workout going through the trees. Is this just the way it is or is there something im doing wrong? Is the 32" outdrive that much harder to turn?

Is it pulling in one particular direction or is it just tough to push off-center in general?

I had a 32" drive on a 1848 and it was a little tough but wasn't that bad.

what made you go with the 32? I thought the primary benefit of having the longer outdrive is to dig in deep shit. Which your not gonna find in the green timber that we hunt. Slap a 27" on there and get to slolemning

It's a stock gatortail 2 blade. I've ran other mud motors and they aren't near as bad as mine. I'll grant you that I probably do need to eat my wheaties but if thats the case so do all my buddies that drive my boat. It doesn't pull to one side in particular if the weight is right in the boat. I went with the 32 because gatortail was switching over to the 30" outdrive and i was given the option of either the 32" drive or the 30" cast drive. Anybody want to trade outdrives?

How far down are you trimmed?

My motor is tough to turn if I trim way down and I'm going full throttle.

I've trimmed it every way I know how. Changed the pin positions and all that. The best I've found is trimming it to the point that it's almost blown out, and when you let off it does blow out bc the bow goes down and the ass end comes back up.
