Timber doodle - sherburne / Indian bayou
Anybody had any luck with the WC? Went last weekend at the woodcock project in sherburne and didn't see a damn thing. They seem to be elusive these days.
Post up a report or any tips. I haven't been able to find em! Maybe y'all have.

I have not had much luck at the wc project in sherburne for the past couple years but I do know a few areas in the woods(sherburne) that are typically productive. Are you hunting over a dog?

Re: Timber doodle - sherburne / Indian bayou
We brought my lab ...with the idea that if we dropped a few and had trouble finding them he could sniff em out and recover the birds. There were a large number of hunters-a-field last weekend at sherburne. We didn't venture outside the woodcock project because we didn't want to ruin anyones deer hunt.
I'll be back out there to scout in the coming weeks. Hopefully we can scare a few up.
General question: Are we looking for areas with rain water accumulation / LOW ground? Or would it be better to bust through the thicket/ briar patches?
I'm trying to get a better feel for what type of cover I'm looking for. Not asking for any specific spots.

We do well in IB but the water chases you out every year.

Gonna be in my pirogue this weekend sneaking some woodducks and mallards. I know where dey at. There's a conveniently fallen tree in the channel preventing any mudmotor or outboard boat from going beyond that point. I'll prolly limit out on mallards in 3 shots if they line up just right. Ole dguidry going ole' school prirogue hunting.
