Post Compression Difference
How much difference is allowed between each cylinder on a 35 briggs? I have one at 195 psi and the other at 165 is there something wrong with this?

My understanding is that you want less than 10% difference between cylinders...

So it sounds like you have a problem to me..

Also, that sounds kind of high.. I thought stock was in the neighborhood of 115psi... Did you mod this motor?

But there are far smarter guys than me on here that can probably tell you a little more and give you some ideas on what to do...

If not, I would call gecker and see what sheldon suggest you do.

Do a leak down test on each cylinder and determine if its a valve, rings, or a head gasket leaking.

Depending on how many hours are on the heads since they were worked and the engine was built, I would lean more to valve guides leaking.. Check for excess carbon build up.. Most head porters that do these engines don't think to replace the guides but they take plenty out around them..

Well lets see here if the valve guide wears it will cause the valve to tilt causing the valve to not seat correctly. Especially when a lot of the guide has been removed from porting. But I could be wrong
