 Crawfish baits
What y'all think is the best?
I'm about to start running a set up here. I've heard dog food, turkey neck, catfish heads, pogie, and chicken livers. What else is there?

 Re: Crawfish baits
Pogie when water is under 70, then switch to the "formulated baits" when the water temp is over 70. Some use both all the time.

 Re: Crawfish baits
I been told to always use fresh bait such as fish parts shad and such that they do better then the dog foods and what not.

 Re: Crawfish baits
Pogies are best but your cost is gonna be higher. When they running good I switch to a 1/3 Pogie and a pellet.

 Re: Crawfish baits
They put them out late December & January depending on water levels. The water is extremely low this year on the atchafalaya so theres not many out now. They catch at this time of the year, it just get better as it warms up.

 Re: Crawfish baits
I switch back and forth between pogie and shad, depending on what's available and always put in pellet bait too. Pogie suspend to be better in the cooler water because it's soft and breaks down faster in warm water.

 Re: Crawfish baits
Have you guys ever tried Asian carp? Reason I ask is due to widely available. As a commfisherman I know during season is not the time to experiment however if Asian carp would work you could cut a big cost out of your operation cost.
